The Sportage is the latest vehicle from Kia to emerge as a hybrid-electric vehicle (HEV) for a rapidly electrifying market. The 2023 Sportage Hybrid is the third SUV in Kia’s stable to join the new EV strategy.

We reported on this model’s release date, pricing, and specs back in November, but Kia America has confirmed some key details that were only estimations back in the fall.

2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid price and release date

The base 2023 Sportage HEV LX will start at $27,290 for the FWD model. Upgrading to the AWD Sportage raises that price to $29,090.

Top trim levels in the Sportage Hybrid lineup are available only with all-wheel drive. The mid-range 2023 Sportage HEV EX starts at $30,990, and the 2023 Sportage HEV SX-Prestige starts at $36,190.

This price range generally aligns with pricing for the gas-powered 2023 Sportage.

What else we know so far

Bigger isn’t always better. But when it comes to designing a new hybrid SUV for an American audience… it kind of is.

Kia America officially announced that the 2023 Sportage Hybrid is ”larger in every dimension,” boosting both rear legroom and cargo room to offer best-in-class convenience. The increased size makes the newest Sportage “one of the largest SUVs in its class.”

Kia is still holding to a spring 2022 targeted release date with no other specific details.

Maybe April showers will bring May Sportage Hybrid releases. Who needs flowers?
