The Hyundai Palisade and Honda Pilot are much improved, for the midsize SUVs have new designs and upgrades for the 2023 model year. There’s much to like about both SUVs, but the 2023 Hyundai Palisade has one huge advantage over the 2023 Honda Pilot: much longer warranty coverage.

Repairs and replacement of parts are major costs of SUV ownership. This is especially the case for models that have significant issues. However, generous warranty coverage is a remedy. If your vehicle is still under warranty, you’ll be less likely to have costly repairs. It also provides a great deal of peace of mind.

And on the warranty coverage front, the 2023 Hyundai Palisade, like other new Hyundai models, has the best in the automotive industry. It’s much longer than what the 2023 Honda Pilot offers. The Palisade provides a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. In comparison, the Pilot only has a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

As a result of the longer warranty coverage, the overall repair costs during the duration of one’s vehicle ownership will likely be lower for the Palisade compared to the Pilot. Once the time and mileage periods end for the Pilot, you’ll have to cover the cost of repairs that were previously covered under the warranties. However, for the Palisade, you’ll still be covered.

2023 Palisade also has a more generous complimentary plan than the 2023 Pilot

In addition to its longer coverage for basic and powertrain warranties, the 2023 Hyundai Palisade has a more generous complimentary maintenance plan than the 2023 Honda Pilot. This further lowers the cost of vehicle ownership for midsize SUV owners.

To ensure that your vehicle is reliable, safe, performs well, and is free of issues, it’s important to keep it properly maintained. And for the Palisade, getting your vehicle serviced is more affordable with its generous complimentary maintenance plan.

Good for three years or 36,000 miles, it covers factory scheduled maintenance, including multi-point inspections, oil changes, topping off the fluids, and tire rotations. While the Pilot also offers a complimentary plan, the coverage period is only two years or 24,000 miles.

Other advantages of the Hyundai Palisade over the Honda Pilot

The 2023 Palisade has some other advantages over the 2023 Pilot. This includes more total passenger space, which especially benefits the second-row passengers. The Pilot provides 42.4 inches of second-row legroom, compared to 40.8 inches for the Pilot. Also, while both midsize SUVs have a V-6 engine, the one in the Palisade is slightly more powerful (291 vs. 285 horsepower).

Additionally, the Palisade has a history of being safer than the Pilot. The 2023 model year IIHS crash test ratings are not yet available for the two SUVs. However, for the previous model year, due to excellent performance on crash tests, the Palisade earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award. However, the Pilot didn’t receive an IIHS safety honor.

Furthermore, the Palisade is cheaper than the Pilot. It has a starting price of $35,550 MSRP, while the Pilot starts at $39,150 MSRP.

With its longer warranty coverage, the 2023 Hyundai Palisade has a huge advantage over the 2023 Honda Pilot. To be clear, this doesn’t mean that the Palisade is a better overall midsize SUV. However, if you’re choosing between the two SUVs, the warranty coverage is an important factor to consider.
