If you’re in the market for a tiny truck, then the Ford Maverick is an incredibly popular option to aim for. It’s even gotten a little beefier for off-roading, thanks to the 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor. However, it comes with a sacrifice.

How much can the 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor tow?

The 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor can tow up to 2,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,200 lbs. This makes it weaker than the other gas-powered models. With the 2.0-liter inline-four engine, the Maverick can tow up to 4,000 lbs and carry up to 1,500 lbs.

Also, the Maverick Hybrid can tow up to 2,000 lbs and carry up to 1,500 lbs. So, if you go for off-roading upgrades, you lose some towing power. The extra capability cuts its towing capacity in half.

This could disappoint those looking to tow heavier campers and adventure crafts while exploring the wild. Plus, the hybrid models can’t be equipped with all-wheel drive. The Tremor package is only available with the gas-powered engine.

How capable is the Maverick Tremor?

The 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor builds upon the FX4 package, which includes tow hooks, protective skid plates, 17-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, hill descent control, and extra driving modes for Mud/Ruts and Sand.

Plus, according to MotorTrend, the suspension upgrades include a multi-link trailing arm setup with monotube shocks and hydraulic rebound stops. It’s supported by a steel frame, has a stabilizer bar, and cast knuckles.

Upgrading to the Tremor adds a 1-inch suspension lift, an upgraded transmission cooler, and enhanced half-shafts. Unique shocks and springs in the front and rear improve comfort and off-roading performance.

It rides on 17-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in chunky off-road tires to improve traction. The upgraded AWD system is a twin-clutch rear-drive unit with a differential lock. Rear wheel torque can be diverted to either wheel.

It has a revised front fascia to improve its approach angle. The Maverick Trmoer has 9.6 inches of ground clearance. The Maverick Tremor has a 30.7-degree approach angle, a 19.9-degree breakover angle, and a departure angle of 22.2 degrees.

The Maverick Tremor isn’t meant for rock crawling. The approach angle is excellent, but the departure and breakover angles are a little lacking. Plus, some of the undercarriage components aren’t protected.

Basically, the Ford Maverick Tremor isn’t the greatest off-roading option out there. However, it’s well equipped to meet the needs of most outdoor enthusiasts. It can crawl over obstacles and get you to your campsite.

How much is the Maverick Tremor?

The 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor package is only available on the XLT and Lariat trims. The XLT starts at about $24,000, and the Tremor Package costs $2,995. So, you’re looking at $26,995 to get started.

You can add the appearance package for another $1,495. It includes a Carbonized-Gray painted roof and mirror caps. Also, black graphics are added to the sides and hood.

The Maverick Tremor does add stout off-roading capabilities to the little truck. We only wish it could tow up to 4,000 lbs like the other gas-powered models.

With the 2.0-liter inline-four engine, you get 250 h and 277 lb-ft of torque, which is plenty of power for conquering obstacles. It’s worth it unless you need to tow heavier trailers.
