The Ford F-150 Raptor was released after much anticipation in 2021. Even after the debut of the supercharged Raptor R, the original F-150 Raptor is still a satisfying off-roader that builds off of the Tremor trim’s features. More equipment means more strain on your pocketbook, but is the Ford F-150 Raptor worth the expense?

Price differences between the F-150 Tremor and F-150 Raptor

The Tremor is one of the Ford F-150’s highest trims, starting at $61,330. The F-150 Tremor is also available with a High Equipment Group package, raising the truck’s total price by $7,525. It gives the Tremor an enhanced version of Ford’s safety suite and a 360-degree camera system. LED projector headlights are also included, along with a Tremor-specific heated and ventilated driver’s seat. To boost the Tremor’s towing capabilities, you can add the Tow package with a trailer brake controller and Class IV hitch. The Bed Utility package gives you extras like a work surface and an integrated bed step. 

A Ford F-150 Raptor will cost at least $76,775. Optioning it with the Raptor R Equipment Group puts its price in the triple-digit range, mainly because of the supercharged V8 upgrade. This package-exclusive engine makes 700 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque. The bundle also includes unique carbon fiber accents and Raptor R graphics. 

The F-150 Raptor vs. the F-150 Tremor: how do they compare?

Ford gives the Raptor more off-roading equipment than the Tremor, but the latter trim can still handle most trails without issue. It already comes with the FX-4 Off-Road package, which gives this truck extra skid plates and an electronic-locking rear axle. It also has off-road front shock absorbers, rear monotube shocks, hill descent control, and a rock crawling mode. 

Every Ford F-150 Tremor comes with 33-inch all-terrain tires, upfitter switches, and an off-roading suspension. A 400-hp V8 with 410 lb-ft of torque serves as the Tremor’s standard engine. This trim is also available with a twin-turbo V6 generating 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. That V6 allows the Ford F-150 Tremor to tow a maximum of 10,900 lbs. 

The F-150 Tremor has four tow hooks and selectable drive modes for all kinds of terrain and towing situations. The SuperCrew cab can comfortably seat up to six people on special sport cloth seats. This trim showcases an upgraded 12-inch infotainment screen with the SYNC 4 interface and a 12-inch digital gauge cluster to match. 

The Ford F-150 Raptor can have off-roading tires up to 37 inches, plus it gains Fox racing shocks and heavy-duty skid plates. This model has an off-roading cruise control function and an extended five-link suspension track to improve its rock-crawling performance. The interior is also a bit more upscale compared to the Tremor’s, featuring leather-trimmed seats with heating for the second row. 

Both the Ford F-150 Tremor and Raptor can be optioned with a front Torsen differential, which provides immediate torque to the wheels when necessary. The Raptor’s towing capacity is just 8,200 lbs, but its ground clearance is higher than the Tremor’s at 13.1 inches. The Tremor only has 9.4 inches of lift.

Should you pay all that money for a Ford F-150 Raptor?

The Ford F-150 Tremor has impressive towing chops and a lot of aggressive equipment. Still, it simply doesn’t have the appropriate specs for every off-road situation. The added premium attached to the Ford F-150 Raptor’s MSRP gives you the peace of mind that you can handle even the roughest trails with confidence. We still understand why one couldn’t (or wouldn’t) spend nearly $80,000 on one truck, so it’s great that the Tremor’s asking price is far more reasonable.
