Dodge and Ram splitting can be a little confusing at times. However, in the case of the Ram 1500 TRX, many people who consume way too much Monster Engergy Drink were pleased that although Dodge is dropping the 6.2-liter Hellcat V8, the Ram 1500 TRX isn’t, at least not for another year. While Ram still hasn’t officially announced the new TRX yet, no one is expecting many big changes except for a steep price increase. Even with the increase, the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX is probably still a better deal than the Ford F-150 Raptor R.

The Monroney shows the base 2024 Ram 1500 TRX price for next year will be $95,490 before destination. A member of the Ram-TRX forum somehow got a hold of a window sticker for the 2024 truck. TFL Truck then verified the VIN through Ram’s own VIN checker. This represents a $10,640 jump over the current pricing for the 2023 model. After the unchanged $1,995 destination charge, a 2024 TRX is going to cost $97,485 before any of the optional fun stuff.

How much has the Ram 1500 TRX price gone up in the model’s history?

This means that over the three years that the Ram 1500 TRX has menaced our streets and dunes, it has climbed an impressive $20,000 rise in MSRP. What’s kind of cool and equally crazy is that we’ve seen this kind of price increase for a truck that if you want leather trimmed seats will cost you another $4k.

Have truck buyers completely lost their minds? It’s hard to imagine buying a pickup truck for this much money and still having cloth seats. However, there is a decent reason to spend this kind of bread on the TRX.

Is the Ram 1500 TRX a better deal than the Ford F-150 Raptor R?

The Ram TRX is crazy expensive, but what does that make the Raptor R? The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R is a similarly beefy supertruck powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter Predator V8 making 700 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque. The Raptor R starts at $109,900 after destination fees.

These two trucks are actually super comparable. The Ford is only 2 horses and 10 lb-ft short on power compared to the TRX. However, the Ford costs nearly $15k more, and that’s just last yer’s model. Who knows what Ford will charge for the 2024 model. Things get even worse for the supertruck market if you actually try to buy a Raptor R. Ford can’t produce enough Raptor Rs to keep up with the demand. As unlikely as that sounds it’s true, and dealer markups prove it. It is not uncommon (if you can actually find one at a dealership) for a dealership to add a cool $20k-$30k to the asking price. Hell, CarGurus has a 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew 4WD listed for $158,537 with 210 miles. Insanity.

While the Ram TRX is cheaper than the Ford Raptor R for now, that will likely change soon. If next year really is the last year for the Hellcat, be prepared for the TRX prices to shoot to outter space.
