The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is the C8 model’s third model year with little indication of slowing down. However, some world-class sports cars aren’t going to live on into the 2025 model year. Unfortunately for Jaguar fans, the 2023 F-Type will be one of the model’s last variants barring some hybridized or electrified reboot. Still, the 2023 Stingray outshines the doomed Jaguar model in a few choice ways, like the Corvette’s midengine layout and starting price point.

What does the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray do better than a Jaguar F-Type?

While the Jaguar F-Type offers supercharged V8 power in the P450 and R platforms, the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is faster, more balanced with mid-engine construction, and has greater cargo capacity than the Jaguar. Moreover, the C8 Stingray has a lower starting price point than the F-Type.

Which is faster, a Jaguar F-Type or a Corvette?

The Jaguar F-Type R produces 575 horsepower, 80 more than the base-model C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with the performance exhaust option. However, the Stingray is faster to 60 mph and in the quarter mile, per Car and Driver.

What Corvettes are mid-engine?

The C8, or eighth-generation Corvette lineup, is mid-engine. Before the C8, the Corvette followed the same formula: front-engine construction with two seats and rear-wheel drive (RWD). As a result of the change to a mid-engine platform, the Corvette is balanced more like a supercar than a front-engine sports car.

However, since its inception in 2014, the Jaguar F-Type hasn’t transitioned to mid-engine construction. So, while the F-Type is quick on its feet, it’s hopeless to match the balance and track-readiness of the ‘Vette.

What is the cargo capacity of the Corvette?

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has about 12.6 cubic feet of cargo capacity. However, storage isn’t just a trunk; it’s a usable front-trunk area or frunk. Moreover, the coupe will accommodate its removable roof section along with small parcels.

Still, the F-Type’s cargo capacity is around 7.3 cubic feet, nearly 40% tighter than the ‘Vette. Both vehicles seat two with no luggage tray or rear seats.

Is the C8 Corvette Stingray cheaper than a Jaguar F-Type?

The base-model C8 Stingray starts well under the Jaguar F-Type P450, and the gulf grows between the mid-engine ‘Vette and the range-topping F-Type R.

2023 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe$109,775

Moreover, both models are available as convertibles. In the case of the Stingray, opting for the retractable hardtop convertible will add about $7,500 to the C8’s base price. However, a drop-top C8 is cheaper than the comparable F-Type, even with the pricey convertible upgrade. Specifically, the 2023 Jaguar F-Type P450 Convertible starts at $75,650, about $2,255 more than a comparable Corvette 1LT Convertible.

Although the Jaguar wears a more premium badge than the Kentucky performance car, the Corvette is faster, cheaper, and more versatile than the big cat. However, the imminent discontinuation of the Jaguar model means that fans who want the front-engine sports car should act quickly.
