The 2022 Toyota RAV4 and 2022 Kia Sorento represent one of the fiercest battles between two SUVs there could be. The RAV4 is the best-selling SUV, while the Kia Sorento is climbing steadily up the SUV ladder, hoping to reach the top. Can the Sorento compete with the RAV4’s popularity, and what would it take to replace it as the most popular SUV in the world, as the Toyota RAV4 currently is? Let’s compare these two SUVs to get a sense of how this rivalry will play out.

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 has a plethora of options

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 is the best-selling SUV for a reason. Well, for a lot of reasons. For starters, there are so many ways that you can customize the Toyota RAV4 that it’s unlikely you wouldn’t find one that matched your needs. There’s even a hybrid powertrain, which is remarkably fuel-efficient, according to Car and Driver. On average, the Toyota RAV4 gets 35 mpg with front-wheel drive and 34 mpg with all-wheel drive. The hybrid RAV4 gets 40 mpg.

In addition, the Toyota RAV4 offers a locking glovebox, LED interior lights, and a seven-interior touchscreen. It also comes with a six-speaker sound system. It’s also known for being reliable and comes standard with a 203 hp four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. It has front-wheel drive, though you can pay a little more to get all-wheel drive.

The 2022 Kia Sorento is packed with features

If you buy the 2022 Kia Sorento, you won’t be wanting for much. The 2022 Sorento comes standard with LED headlights, heated mirrors, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. It also has cruise control, an overhead console with storage, and turn signals in the mirrors. You can control the power windows with one touch. It also comes with remote keyless power locks and heated mirrors.

The Sorento has front row bucket seats and a 60/40 split-folding bench second row, with two split-folding seats in the third row. As far as infotainment, the 2022 Sorento has an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen and a six-speaker sound system. You can use both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the 2022 Kia Sorento LX. It also has a USB connection as well as a USB with external media control.

The RAV4 and Sorento are both affordable, but Toyota’s SUV is cheaper

You can’t say that either the 2022 Toyota RAV4 or the 2022 Kia Sorento are overpriced, but the RAV4 is slightly cheaper. The 2022 Toyota RAV4 price starts at  $26,525, up slightly from the 2021 Toyota RAV4 price of $26,350. The 2022 Kia Sorento price is a little bit higher, at $29,490.

So can the 2022 Kia Sorento take down the 2022 Toyota RAV4? It’s probably unlikely. Although the Kia Sorento offers a whole lot – including more storage and passenger space, it doesn’t quite have everything that the RAV4 does. When you consider the fact that the 2022 Toyota RAV4 is also the cheaper option – and that it’s completely loaded with extras – it’s hard to imagine that Kia will be able to persuade the world to choose its Sorento over the RAV4.
