The 2021 Nissan Rogue proves the value in waiting to purchase a new car. Even tried and true models need some road testing to prove their reliability. The 2021 Rogue’s low safety rating and fuel system recall are examples of why buying too soon could cause headaches.

The 2021 Nissan Rogue has overall high safety ratings with one exception

Consumer Reports gave the 2021 Nissan Rogue high marks in safety. The popular SUV has one glaring vulnerability. Consumer Reports lists the 2021 Rogue’s NHTSA overall passenger frontal-crash safety rating at 2 stars. For some buyers, general high scores may not compensate for such a low rating in this specific category.

Many buyers pay careful attention to passenger safety ratings when choosing a vehicle. Subsequently, a dangerous recall brought the Rogue’s safety under further scrutiny. An increased crash risk and low crash safety ratings are a dangerous pair.

2021 Nissan Rogue fuel line recall

Consumer Reports detailed the recall on February 11, 2021. Loose connections attaching fuel lines cause certain 2021 Nissan Rogues to stall. The Rogues frequently fail to restart due to this fuel line interruption. Drivers affected by this failure are at increased risk of collision and could be left stranded.

If possible, front passengers should avoid traveling in affected Rogues until repairs have been made. Dealerships will examine and repair the fuel lines of subjected vehicles at no cost to owners. In short, any signs of fuel system failure should be investigated by a Nissan dealership.

Many new releases have engineering flaws that require some road use to be observed. It’s only natural that the first iteration of a new product will require adjustments. Holding off on a brand new release could save buyers time and money. Allowing the market to test a new car is an easy way to inform a car buying decision.
