The 2021 Ford F-150 Has 3 Drawbacks to Consider

The Ford F-150 is one of the most popular vehicles in America, and it’s easy to see why. The pickup is affordable and versatile, with plenty of trim levels and drivetrain options to fit the needs and wants of any driver. With high recommendations from several websites and a fan base of owners who love to remind us how great the vehicle really is, it makes you wonder if there are any potential downfalls that you should take into consideration. Of course, the F-150 isn’t perfect, but do the cons outweigh the pros?

The hybrid powertrain isn’t perfect

The words pickup truck and hybrid may not sound like they belong in the same sentence. With the popularity and demand for hybrids increasing at a seemingly endless rate, it only makes sense that one of the best-selling vehicles in America would adopt the option for a hybrid drivetrain.

To many buyers, this is a great way to buy a more sustainable vehicle that offers slightly better fuel economy, but according to Edmunds, things aren’t going perfectly quite yet. Reports show that the hybrid drivetrain is rather noisy when it comes to using the onboard generator, but this won’t be a deal-breaker to most buyers.

Minimal interior storage

The interior storage space for the 2021 Ford F-150 is rather limited. The cabin, whether you chose the two-door or four-door option, the cabin is still relatively spacious and comfortable, but there isn’t a ton of room for additional cargo inside the cabin either way. This could be a problem for drivers with a full car who will have to move anything they are traveling with to the bed, but without a cover on the truck bed, that isn’t always ideal.

One active recall for the Ford F-150

There is already one active recall for the 2021 Ford F-150, and while it isn’t that uncommon for new cars to have one or two recalls, it isn’t particularly comforting. The recall itself affects several Ford pickup trucks, and it may sound more concerning than it actually is. In case of an accident, the windshield could become misplaced, increasing the risk of injury.

Because this is a safety recall, owners can have this issue resolved with no personal cost if their vehicle is affected. Dealerships will opt to remove and replace the windshield and all it will cost the owner is a bit of time.

The 2021 Ford F-150 may not be perfect, but the downfalls that it hasn’t really aren’t that bad. In fact, as a pickup truck, the cons of ownership really aren’t all that surprising, and none of them are a big enough reason to skip over the otherwise popular and capable vehicle.
