The 2020 Ford F-150 Has More Than One Recall So Far

The Ford F-150 has been one of the best-selling vehicles in America, gaining popularity for its versatility as well as its affordable price point. With such a length history with pickup trucks, it is easy to understand how Ford would be doing so well in the market, and even though it stands against other home-grown American options like Chevrolet to compete for the most worthy pickup truck, there is no doubt that the pickup has a fan base all to itself. But, with the 2020 F-150 being only a year old, will the handful of recalls it already has deter buyers?

Whether you purchased a 2020 Ford F-150 when it was first available, or you are looking to buy one slightly used, there are a lot of reasons to love the pickup. With versatility between trim levels that bring the truck up to a level of luxury we may not have expected a decade ago, to the pure capability it has to offer, the F-150 fits the needs and wants of so many drivers across the board. So, with more than one active recall for the 2020 model year, it isn’t surprising that buyers haven’t been particularly deterred.

Active recalls for the F-150

It isn’t uncommon to see one or two active recalls for a vehicle even within the first year, but there have been seven recalls already for the 2020 Ford F-150, and some are more concerning than others. According to Consumer Reports, the recalls span from the truck’s electrical systems to the powertrains, but it is also important to note that not every vehicle was affected by each recall. Some of the recalls even affect older model years of the F-150, making the numbers look pretty intimidating.

Should recalls stop you from buying?

Although the seven active recalls for the 2020 Ford F-150 might sound intimidating, there are still plenty of them on the road today, meaning it hasn’t stopped buyers from taking the risk. While recalls regarding electrical systems and powertrains can seem scary, these issues can be handled by the manufacturer at no cost to the owner, and it’s free to check if your vehicle, or a vehicle you are interested in buying, has any applicable recalls.

As long as recalls are serviced in a timely manner, there is no reason why the 2020 Ford F-150 isn’t a great option for a pickup truck — well unless you’re a fan of the competing Dodge or Chevrolet options.
