The Lamborghini Urus is easily one of the most exciting SUVs ever made. Lamborghini’s SUV has broken sales records for the company. It paved the way for other performance SUVs, including the Ferrari Purosangue. The Urus is much too expensive for the average consumer, but there’s hope for drivers interested in alternatives. You may not be able to own a Urus, but some Lamborghini Urus relatives are much more affordable.

Porsche produces several exciting sports car models. Even its SUVs are sporty. The Lamborghini Urus has a surprising German ancestor in Porsche’s lineup that may surprise you.

The Porsche Cayenne, which has been in production for over two decades, shares some DNA with the Lamborghini Urus. Both snazzy SUVs are built on MLB Evo architecture. The Cayenne and Urus have a basic platform in common. Powertrains, along with other alterations, make the SUVs unique, but it’s fair to say that the two European sporty SUVs have more in common than people think.

The Porsche Cayenne starts at $72,200. It uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine to make 335 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. The Cayenne gets 19 miles per gallon in the city and 23 miles per gallon on the highway. It has the driving dynamics of a sports car, but it’s practical enough to be a family vehicle.

Audi’s sporty SUV shares something with the Lamborghini Urus

Audi’s SQ7 luxury SUV is roughly the same length, width, and height as the Lamborghini Urus. The SQ7 is also built on MLB Evo architecture.

The 2023 Audi SQ7 starts at $90,200. It uses a twin-turbocharged four-liter V8 engine to make a whopping 500 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque. The SQ7 achieves 14 miles per gallon in the city and 20 miles per gallon on the highway.

The Audi SQ7 is one of the best options in its segment for the money. Its power output bares a strong resemblance to the Urus’. Is the SQ7 a budget Lamborghini Urus?

The 2023 Lamborghini Urus starts at $233,995. It costs $161,795 more than the 2023 Porsche Cayenne. The Urus costs $143,795 more than the 2023 Audi SQ7. The real question is, should consumers consider vehicles with the same architecture over the Urus? The short answer is no.

While there are several luxury SUVs that are more powerful than most consumers may realize, the Lamborghini Urus has few true rivals. Even most of its closest relatives can’t compare to the SUV in terms of luxury and performance. A huge part of the Urus’ appeal is the fact that it’s a Lamborghini SUV. So, there are plenty of more affordable SUVs that may have a better value proposition, but they aren’t part of the same upper echelon of vehicles that the Urus belongs to.

The Lamborghini Urus’ true rival is the more expensive Ferrari Purosangue. Aside from the Purosangue, only a handful of SUVs can be mentioned in the same breath as the mighty Urus.
