Do we know what the 2025 Chevy Corvette SUV will bring to the market? Some have thought this through as a high-powered SUV that could be here to take down the Lamborghini Urus. Of course, a Corvette SUV would also have other high-performance SUVs in its sights, but the Urus is one of the most successful. Can the new Corvette C8 SUV compete with the Porsche Cayenne GT, BMW X6 M, and Lamborghini Urus?

Regardless of where you turn, the early renderings and imagery of the upcoming Corvette SUV show us a bloated, lifted SUV that only slightly resembles the iconic sports car. Still, the Ford Mustang Mach-E has been a huge hit; why not do something similar with the Corvette? That said, if Chevrolet wanted to build the Mach-E competitor, it would be while using the Camaro, not the Corvette.

Note: A Camaro SUV is also in the works at Chevrolet.

Is there pressure to build a high-powered Corvette SUV to compete with the Lamborghini Urus?

It’s understandable that Ferrari would feel such heat, and the response is the Purosangue, but why would GM feel this same pressure? Since the C8 Corvette arrived, the Chevy supercar hasn’t looked back. Instead of being just an affordable American supercar, the Corvette has aimed to be one of the most impressive cars in this class. The pressure to compete may be felt across the pond with Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, and BMW offering impressive high-performance SUVs.

Will the new Corvette SUV be an EV?

This is one of the biggest questions facing the movement to SUVs for both the Corvette and Camaro. While the Camaro is about to end its current generational run, the Corvette is just getting started with the new C8 Z06 model that recently arrived for 2023.

If you turn to Car and Driver, the expectation is a fully electric version of the Corvette in an SUV build. On the other hand, the team at Top Speed has different ideas. Could both be true at the same time? GM recently invested heavily in V8 engine development and future EV advancement; could that lead us to a place where there’s a Corvette for every taste?

Where will the 2025 Chevy Corvette SUV sell best?

As one of the few American supercars from the legacy automakers, this new Corvette SUV must be unveiled on American soil. That said, the swarm of Corvette purists might push back hard with hatred for an electrified SUV version of the iconic car. With this in mind, the Chinese auto market could be where the Corvette name performs best as an SUV. China is now the largest auto market in the world and has embraced electric vehicles.

What do we actually know about the Corvette SUV?

All we know for sure is that an SUV version of the Corvette is in GM’s future plans. Whether or not this SUV will use a Corvette V8 engine or an electric platform is yet to be confirmed. Until we know more, it’s hard to say what this new high-performance SUV might be. That said, the Lamborghini Urus and other high-performance SUVs should be shaking in their proverbial shoes right now.
