The 2023 Chevy Silverado is currently one of the best selling cars in America, and interestingly enough, car shoppers are buying the Silverado despite its high price tag. In fact, just like many other automakers, Chevy gave the 2023 Silverado yet another price increase, and now, there’s only one trim that starts at under $40,000. Here’s a look at the 2023 Chevy Silverado and its most affordable trim option that starts at under $40,000.

The 2023 Chevy Silverado WT is the only trim that starts below $40,000

According to Chevrolet, the only Silverado trim that’s available for less than $40,000 right now is the standard work truck, or WT trim. That being said, Chevy offers a variety of cab and box styles, and not all configurations are going to make the WT trim cost less than $40,000.

The WT trim with the regular cab, the standard 79-inch bed, and front-wheel drive will cost about $38,000 MSRP.

Car shoppers can also upgrade to the Long Bed for about $200 more, and it’ll give the truck a 98-inch bed instead. In general though, the WT trim is supposed to be a work truck, and as such, it won’t have many features.

Since it has a regular cab, it’ll only be able to seat three people. It comes with a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and it gets 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. This engine will allow the Chevy truck to tow up to 9,500 pounds.

On the interior, the WT trim is unsurprisingly going to be sparse. The front seat are manually adjustable, and the windows and the locks are manually operated. That said, it does come with a 7-inch touchscreen as standard, and it is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Chevrolet raised prices a lot in 2022 alone

The 2023 model year of the Silverado saw yet another price increase, as Chevy raised the price of the truck by $1,000 across the board for all trims. That pencils out to a 3% price increase, which doesn’t sound large given inflation. That being said, earlier this year, Chevy gave the truck another series of price increases.

The WT trim of the 2022 Silverado only started at about $33,000 MSRP at the beginning of the year. It rose by $3,200 thanks to those price increases, and at the end of the model year, it started at over $36,000.

This means that, compared to the 2022 Silverado WT from the start of the year, the 2023 Silverado WT will cost about $4,200 more. That’s a price increase of over 12%.

This is the 2023 Chevy Silverado trim that has the best value

While the WT trim is the cheapest trim available, Car and Driver doesn’t think that it’s the best trim option on the Silverado. Instead, the car critic suggests that drivers choose the LT trim. This is a mid-tier trim, and it starts at about $49,000 MSRP. The LT trim is only available with a double cab or a crew cab, and this helps make it a more comfortable truck to be in.

In fact, interior comfort is one of the main reasons why the car critic recommends this trim. This trim has a “snazzier” interior design, and it includes a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster display and a 13.4-inch touch screen. It also gets nice, luxury features such as heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. Car and Driver also recommend adding the 5.3-liter V8 engine, and this engine gets 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.
