We need the Chevrolet Silverado to slow down. The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is going up in price again! What has the Silverado constantly going up in price this year? It’s time to put on our detective hats and investigate this trucking issue.

The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 keeps changing, but currently, it has a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $33,800. This is the price that Chevrolet recommends selling the truck for.

However, you may see a few options with a higher price tag because the MSRP doesn’t include destination fees and dealership markups. The destination fee is about $1,795, which is one of the highest fees in the industry.

This is about five percent of the cost of the most basic Silverado model. to AutoBlog, the Silverado just got its third price increase for the year. The price has increased by $3,200 since last December.

The Chevy Silverado ZR2 model is currently up by $3,400. This breaks down to about a $700 increase per month since the truck came out.

Why is the Chevy Silverado so expensive?

The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 can escape the issues that are impacting the automotive industry. Supply chain shortages, the semiconductor chip shortage, Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and inflation are raising costs.

One of the most recent factors involves the rising cost of diesel. Now it’s costing General Motors more to have parts delivered and to deliver their trucks. GM is passing these costs on to consumers with the increased destination fee.

Limited inventory might also be a significant factor. With fewer trucks on the lots, prices naturally increase because demand isn’t slowing down. Most auto manufacturers save their chip supplies for their most popular and profitable models. But that still results in shortages.

The Silverado tried saving even more chips by removing the automatic start and stop feature from the engines. Other vehicles are dropping chips for rear automatic climate controls, but the chips will be added later.

Order books for the 2022 Ford F-10 just closed, and the 2022 Toyota Tundra is facing delays. So people who want a brand new truck can either wait it out or turn to other options like the Silverado.

How long is the wait for a Chevy Silverado?

Typically, the wait for a new Silverado truck is about six to eight weeks. However, the wait time for a 2022 Chevy Silverado model is about three months or longer.

The ordering process involves processing the order, scheduling the build date, and delivering the truck to a local dealership. Heavy Duty trucks have a longer waiting time.

You might be able to find a new truck at your local dealership. Canceled orders are sold to the public, but this process may include a higher markup.

The best way to get the latest information about ordering a truck or how long waiting times are is by asking your local dealership.

We will keep an eye on Silverado production to keep you up to date. Three price increases seem a little aggressive until then, but inflation, supply chain shortages, and the ongoing pandemic aren’t helping.
