Similar to the sedan, the electric SUV is heading to production at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. According to CNBC, this SUV should arrive in US showrooms later in 2022 as part of the 2023 model year. We will initially see two models offered, with more arriving in later years.

The futuristic design of the EQS SUV offers selectable styling with the choice of either Electric Art or AMG-Line body styling. According to Motor 1, the Electric Art version has a smooth front bumper. The AMG-Line offers more aggressive qualities, including corner air curtains and a chin spoiler.

We know the standard version of the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV offers an RWD one-motor configuration. Those who want more can step up to the 4Matic AWD two-motor setup to have more power, performance, and traction. Driving range numbers aren’t official yet, but the SUV should go for more than 300 miles on a charge considering the sedan version drives for 350 miles before it needs recharging.

How much power does the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV offer?

The two different trim levels of this new SUV are EQS 450 and EQS 580. The 450 is the single-motor model bringing 355 horsepower and 419 lb.-ft. of torque. The 580 version delivers 536 horsepower and 633 lb.-ft. of torque from the dual-motor setup. A 107.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack powers both models. Using a DC fast charger, the battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 31 minutes.

How much does the EQS SUV cost?

Even though we don’t have official pricing yet, the expected price range for the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is $110,000-$150,000. This gives new luxury SUV owners a significant range to find the electric SUV they want to drive with the equipment desired.

When does this flagship Mercedes-Benz SUV go on sale?

We expect the new EQS SUV to arrive in autumn to usher in the 2023 model year. This vehicle could show up as soon as the latter part of the summer to be an early release for the new model year. As we come closer to the official on-sale date, we will learn more and offer more information regarding this impressive luxury SUV.
