The 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport and the 2022 Honda Pilot TrailSport were released in Fall 2021. In addition to international markets, the TrailSport models are available in the United States at dealerships nationwide.

What off-road features are in the Honda TrailSport models?

The TrailSport models will be added to the trim lineup of the Honda light-duty truck models. They will feature a rugged design and enhanced off-road capabilities. Honda aims to make them the pinnacle of off-road prowess, durability, and diversity for its light-duty truck lineup.

Honda has a multi-year plan for the TrailSport models. The models released this fall will have durable cladding and rugged front and rear styling. Inside the TrailSport models, the cabin will have unique interior design elements, such as signature all-weather mats and high-contrast orange stitching. The Honda TrailSport models will also have a torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system. It provides confident traction when heading off the beaten path while providing excellent driving dynamics for on-road driving.

In future years, the TrailSport models will have even greater off-road capabilities. This will be achieved with feature additions and upgrades, including underbody protection, an off-road-tuned suspension, full-size spare tires, and more aggressive tires. Also, Honda plans on re-engineering the TrailSport models to elevate the capabilities of the all-wheel drive system. Additionally, future TrailSport models will have higher ground clearance.

“TrailSport represents the next chapter in our rugged direction and will bring exclusive styling to our existing light trucks that will appeal to buyers seeking adventure. Our U.S. engineering team is leveraging more than 20 years of experience creating highly capable light trucks to develop this new series of adventure-ready vehicles.”

– Dave Gardner, executive vice president of National Operations at American Honda

Honda didn’t specify which models would get the TrailSport treatment. The automaker only stated that it would apply to the light-duty truck lineup.

However, given that the Honda Ridgeline midsize pickup truck is featured in the teaser video, that is an obvious choice. Also, it would not be a stretch to say that the Honda Pilot and Passport SUVs will also get Ridgeline trims. When the TrailSport trims are added to the Honda model lineup, they will be the highest-ranking trims for the respective models.

The TrailSport models are an enticing addition to the Honda lineup. They give off-road enthusiasts more choices for an off-road capable vehicle. Also, the Transport models have the backing of a five-decade Honda legacy of off-road engineering, as well as two decades of experience with light-duty trucks.
