The all-new 2024 Lexus TX is a long time coming. The automaker applied for a trademark of the TX name in 2009 and is finally ready to bring a new three-row Lexus SUV to the lineup. The brand’s current midsize three-row model is the RX L, but it can’t compete with more spacious vehicles. So the new Lexus TX should fix this mistake.

What’s the advantage of the 2024 Lexus TX?

The new Lexus TX shares a platform with the upcoming Toyota Grand Highlander. Its roomy, comfortable third row is spacious enough for adults.

The Lexus RX L offers only 23.5 inches of legroom for third-row passengers. That’s insufficient even for children. The new TX three-row Lexus SUV will provide the rear-most riders with about 28 inches of legroom. Removing the third row from the RX lineup also improves second-row legroom for that model’s passengers, making this new SUV a win-win.

Additionally, the TX will best the RX L’s tiny cargo area. Whereas the RX L provides only 7.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, the 2024 TX boasts 20.1 cubic feet.

What will power the Lexus TX?

The 2024 Lexus TX will ride on the same GA-K platform as the Grand Highlander and offer three powertrains.

The TX 350 will have a 2.4-liter gas engine making 275 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. It pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive comes standard, but all-wheel drive is available. Lexus estimates this version will get 21 mpg city/highway combined.

Next is the TX 500h, with a 2.4-liter hybrid engine producing 366 hp and 409 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission and Direct4 AWD are standard. The fuel economy estimate for this hybrid SUV is 24 mpg combined.

Finally, the TX 550h+ plug-in hybrid vehicle will pack a 406-hp 3.5-liter V6, a continuously variable transmission, and Direct4 AWD. Lexus estimates this PHEV will get 30 mpg and up to 33 miles of electric-only range.

What are some features of this new Lexus SUV?

Expect many smart features in the 2024 Lexus TX. This luxury SUV will offer Advanced Park, a semiautonomous driving system that makes parking a breeze using a digital key. With this key, users can park and unpark the SUV remotely, which makes fitting this large vehicle into smaller spaces much easier.

In addition, the new TX will boast a standard 14-inch HD touchscreen on all four trims (Standard, Premium, Luxury, and F Sport Performance) and an available head-up display. The infotainment system will also include:

  • Lexus voice assistant
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
  • Apple Music
  • Amazon Music
  • Dual-Bluetooth pairing
  • Cloud navigation
  • Over-the-air updates
  • A21-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound system
  • Seven charging/communication ports and three power outlets

Furthermore, expect a large 12.3-inch fully digital gauge cluster in the TX. This new system could have customizable layouts similar to what we see in Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

What is the release date for the 2024 Lexus TX?

Lexus hasn’t announced an official release date yet. However, the automaker expects the 2024 TX 350 and 500h to go on sale in fall 2023. Lexus says the 2024 TX 550h+ will likely come out “at a later date.”

Where will this new Lexus SUV be built?

Lexus says its all-new three-row SUV will be produced at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing plant in Princeton, Indiana. The Grand Highlander will also roll off that assembly line. This marks the first time the company will build a Lexus model at the Indiana facility.
