The Bentley Bentayga isn’t a car many people considering buying when they are looking at luxury SUVs, mostly because like the Lamborghini Urus, these fast and luxurious cars are way out of most people’s price range. However, just like other luxury car brands like Audi and BMW, Bentley cars depreciate heavily year after year, and while their bottom line price never gets lower than what you’ll find an old Honda Civic, the prices become more reasonable over time. In fact, if you’re in the market for a newer luxury car you might find that a used Bentley Bentayga might be in your price range.

Buying a used Bentley Bentayga

The Bentley Bentayga isn’t a car you are going to find all over the used car market, and it might take some online digging to catch one for sale anywhere near you. The good news is that there are a lot of free online tools to help you buy a used car near you, and you can use all of them to help you buy a used Bentayga.

A new Bentley Bentayga even as basic as they come still costs well over $100,000 and that’s not what the average consumer plans on spending when it comes to buying an SUV — no matter how luxurious, fast, or filled with tech it may be. A used Bentayga, however, can drop down as low as $60,000 putting it well within the price range of many Audi, BMW, and even Tesla SUVs. That doesn’t mean you should go out and buy one, however, just because they seem affordable on the surface.

A used Bentayga should come with a few warnings

Just because a used Bentley Bentayga is within your price range doesn’t mean you should jump the gun and buy one, and that’s for a couple of reasons. For one, Bentley’s are significantly less common than your average exotic luxury cars like Mercedes-Benz, which means it’s hard to find a shop or a mechanic that is willing to work on your car but is also knowledgable enough to do so well.

Because Bentley’s are uncommon it’s not just difficult to find a good mechanic it’s difficult to source parts. This can mean having your car in the shop a little bit longer when it needs something repaired or replaced. General maintenance of the Bentley is much higher than most people plan for their standard SUV, and on top of that, they are extremely expensive to repair. Should anything go wrong on your used Bentayga it can be the difference between not being able to fix the car or maybe having to take out a loan just to cover repairs.

These aren’t ideal situations for most people, and when it comes to buying used luxury cars it’s important to focus on potential future costs, even if the price at this moment seems good enough to get away with. If you’ve ever had to make payment on a car you can’t afford to fix — so essentially, a car you can’t even drive — you’ll know it’s an awful feeling, and as cool as it is to buy a Bentley, if you’re not well prepared, it can turn into a nightmare.
