Everyone gets excited when they hear a new model year is coming out for a vehicle, but no one was thrilled by the new 2021 Nissan Titan. That’s because there was nothing new about it.

Kelley Blue Book gave a less than stellar review on the 2021 model year, with good reason. That’s why you should be looking at the 2020 model instead.

What updates have been made to the 2021 Nissan Titan?

Nothing. Nissan has made absolutely no changes to the 2021 Nissan Titan. It’s pretty much the same as the 2020 model year, right down to the parts used.

According to Kelley Blue Book, Nissan invested $230 million dollars in updating the Titan in 2020, so it’s no surprise that it wouldn’t shovel more money at the Titan.

It does beg the question of why you should invest more money into buying a 2021 model when you can get the same thing for cheaper by buying a 2020 model, however.

What updates were made for 2020 Nissan Titan?

Nissan went a little crazy with updates for the 2020 Nissan Titan, and it was desperately needed. The sales for the 2019 model year made it clear that something had to give.

The 2020 model year brought in some of the tech many drivers crave, such as a better infotainment screen. It was upgraded from a 7-inch screen to an 8-inch screen. There is also a 9-inch screen available. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard, as well.

The 2020 Nissan Titan was also equipped with a V8 engine that gets 400 hp. The driving experience is also much improved.

The 2021 Titan has the same issues as the 2020 model

It might be a new year, but the problems remain the same. There is only one engine choice, which might turn some consumers away.

The price is also higher than rivals. The 2021 Nissan Titan starts at $38,145, which is the most of any truck in this division.

Then there is the fact that the interior isn’t that impressive. It’s not terrible, but there are a lot of hard plastics that don’t belong in a vehicle that costs nearly $40,000 for the base model.

Since the interior is the most important part of the truck for many consumers, considering that’s where they spend the most time, Nissan might have to look at updating that in the near future if it wants to keep consumers interested.

Neither model year can keep up with the competition

In spite of the updates, the Nissan Titan still can’t compete with its rivals like the Ford F-150, the Chevy Silverado, and the Toyota Tundra.

The 2021 Ford F-150 now has an electric engine, and it can even serve as a generator. It’s also got an updated body that will draw in consumers merely to see what’s new.

The 2021 Chevy Silverado is focused on bringing in new owners by updating the tailgate. It has a new Multi-Flex tailgate that can be configured in a number of different ways.

The Toyota Tundra beats out the Nissan Titan thanks to its record for reliability. That’s not a surprise coming from Toyota, but it does make it hard for Nissan to keep up.

If you really want a Nissan Titan, you should go for it. It’s not a terrible truck, even though it has more than its share of problems. With that said, the 2020 model year is the best way to get everything you want while sparing your wallet.
