Do people buy the best version of popular Chevrolet SUVs? For most, one trim level is much more popular than all the others. While every version of the 2022 Chevy Blazer and 2022 Chevy Traverse is viable, some are better than others. Most experts say the best Blazer and Traverse trim levels are also the most basic. Recommending the Blazer 2LT and the Traverse LT Cloth is easy, which is why there are two Chevy SUVs that are actually better cheaper.

According to Edmunds, the most popular version of the 2022 Chevy Blazer is the 2LT trim. Surprisingly, buyers are choosing the one that most experts recommend. How could you argue with which trim is the best when everyone, buyers and critics, thinks it’s the same model? Starting at $34,595, the most basic Blazer provides more value than others in the lineup.

Next, the same publication says the most popular 2022 Chevy Traverse is the LT Cloth trim. There are two LT trims, one with cloth and one with leather, but most buyers choose the cloth. Without sacrificing much else, cloth seats are roughly $4,000 cheaper than the leather option. Furthermore, the LT trim is the best of the bunch. Just like the Blazer, it’s surprising that experts and buyers agree on the best Traverse trim to buy.

Experts love the 2022 Chevy Blazer 2LT

Some Chevy SUVs, like the 2022 Blazer, are actually better cheaper. With that being said, not all experts recommend the same model. For example, Edmunds likes the cheapest 2LT version of the Blazer. “It’s decently equipped with convenience and technology features and represents the best value. Consider adding the Convenience and Driver Confidence package for some extra features such as remote start, heated front seats and auto-dimming mirrors.” With optional features available, the base model is surprisingly well-equipped.

Next, Car and Driver don’t recommend the same model. However, the experts think one of the cheapest Blazers is still the way to go. C/D likes the 3LT model the best, which slots in just one ahead of the 2LT. “…we’d recommend the 3LT trim level, mainly because it unlocks the $500 V-6 engine option, which increases the max towing capacity from 3500 to 4500 pounds, when equipped with the trailering equipment, of course.” A higher towing capacity is always a bonus for an SUV of any size, and the more sizable engine is an advantage over the base 2LT trim.

Critics agree on the best 2022 Chevy Traverse trim

Next, both Edmunds and Car and Driver recommend the same 2022 Chevy Traverse model. We can’t find a reason to disagree, as it does provide the most bang for your buck. First, Edmunds says the LT Cloth trim is the one to buy. However, it also mentions the leather version as a viable option. It depends on the buyer’s needs and whether leather seating is crucial to you. LT Cloth models come equipped with wireless charging, second-row captain’s chairs, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, roof rails, satellite radio, and more.

C/D also thinks the LT model is the one to buy. “The mid-range LT model represents the best value among the Traverse’s six-trim lineup as it adds nice-to-haves such as second-row captain’s chairs, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, SiriusXM satellite radio, fog lamps, heated exterior mirrors, and roof rails.” Lastly, the publication mentions that the Leather package makes the Travers more luxurious without the price tag of a Premier or High Country trim. Leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power rear liftgate, and more are included with the LT Leather trim.

Why are these two Chevy SUVs better cheaper?

In conclusion, the 2022 Chevy Blazer and 2022 Chevy Traverse are actually better cheaper. While it’s obviously fantastic to get the features included with upper trims, they aren’t worth the price. Additionally, the Chevrolet lineup has many SUV options. Often, paying the highest price for models like these seems silly when the same amount could get you a more extensive Chevy SUV with more equipment. For example, a fully-loaded Equinox or a base model Tahoe provides more value than top trims for these models.
