The 2022 Kia Sportage is a huge hit thanks to its versatility, style, and abundance of features. Yet it isn’t a perfect SUV, so if you’re in the market for something new, you don’t want to be familiar with what is great about the Kia Sportage, as well as what isn’t. Here are the top three reasons why you should take a look at the Sportage, and three why you might want to look at something else.

The 2022 Kia Sportage price is under $30,000

One of the best things about the 2022 Kia Sportage is its price. It starts at under $30,000, making it highly competitive against other sport utility vehicles on the market. The base model 2022 Kia Sportage, the LX, costs $24,090. This comes with a 181-horsepower four-cylinder engine. You can always upgrade to one of the higher trims, though.

The Kia Sportage is loaded with features

If you want a lot of great features in your SUV, you may be very happy. Not only does the base model Sportage come with a slew of features, it’s easy and fairly inexpensive to add on additional features.

The 2022 Sportage comes with an eight-inch touchscreen, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 2022 Sportage also has voice recognition, a six-speaker stereo, and USB ports.

You can really customize the Sportage

You can add heated from seats and keyless entry to the 2022 Kia Sportage. The EX model comes with a panoramic sunroof. These may seem like small additions to an already great SUV, but they can allow you to customize your 2022 Sportage to be exactly how you want it.

The Sportage doesn’t have good headlights

If there’s one thing that a lot of SUV shoppers look for in their vehicles, it’s safety. While the 2022 Kia Sportage is an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Too Safety Pick, it isn’t white enough to be a Top Safety Picj+ winner. That’s because it doesn’t have good or acceptable headlights standard on all trim levels. Instead, the Sportage only has headlights available that are acceptable or poor.

It has a marginal updated side crash test result

In addition to less-than-stellar headlights, the Sportage’s updated side crash test result is only marginal. While this test isn’t yet included in the IIHS safety awards, it’s definitely something you’ll want to pay attention to when you’re shopping for a new SUV.

It doesn’t have a lot of cargo space

Perhaps one of the most disappointing aspects of the 2022 Kia Sportage is its cargo space. It has only 30.7 cubic feet behind the rear row, though you can get 60.1 cubic feet if you fold down the third row. This is less than many compact SUVs have, so if you plan on using your Kia Sportage to carry a lot of goods or luggage frequently, you might want to upgrade to the Kia Sorento.
