People take a closer look after the unveiling of the 2020 mid-engine C8 Corvette Stingray

This Guy Just Paid $280,000 For A 2020 Corvette

How much would you pay for a 2020 C8 Corvette? We’ve seen them for sale recently ranging from around $80,000 to $120,000. We haven’t looked further to see if that’s for a place in line or for an actual mid-engine Corvette. For as popular as they are in the US, how do you think the …

How much would you pay for a 2020 C8 Corvette? We’ve seen them for sale recently ranging from around $80,000 to $120,000. We haven’t looked further to see if that’s for a place in line or for an actual mid-engine Corvette. For as popular as they are in the US, how do you think the 2020 Corvette is viewed in Europe? Well, in Norway it must be exceptionally popular since this guy just paid an exceptionally huge $277,966 for a 2020 Corvette.

We should remind you fans in Europe that the Corvette arrives there later in 2021

First, we should remind you fans in Europe that the Corvette arrives there later in 2021. That’s what Chevy says, though it has had one hell of a time meeting demand in the states. While we don’t expect them to sell there for the $60,000 price you can pick up one for here, it won’t be $280,000 either.

Part of the reason this was so costly is that Norway has both high taxes and liter taxes for larger displacement engines, too. But hey, healthcare is free there so everyone has more disposable income for pricey items like 2020 Corvettes. Still, it’s an eye-popping figure to pay for a single Corvette.

From the images posted it appears this is a base Corvette or close to it. Nothing wrong with that but if you’re popping close to $300,000 you might as well go all the way and get one fairly loaded. But honestly, even a bare Corvette is a desirable beast that no one would complain about.

In some ways, it is no different than the high prices paid for Porsches

In some ways, it is no different than the high prices paid for Porsches. Can we be honest? They’re way overpriced relative to the high margins Porsche enjoys. But there is a certain subset of enthusiasts that pay to play Porsche. No one talks smack about these fine citizens. So who is to say this Norwegian dude is any more or less crazy than your neighbor with Panamera?

We understand there is another C8 Corvette recently shipped to Switzerland. That car was rumored to cost over $180,000. So either side of $200,000 seems to be the price across the pond for a 2020 ‘Vette.

Exclusivity isn’t cheap. Neither is being one of the first. But it should be good for Chevy to know that the threshold of price pain is around $200,000 in Europe. How much do you think it should cost to have one of the first C8 Corvettes in Europe?
