Give it up for the 2024 Mazda CX-30. It earned the title of  Top Safety Pick+, which is the most prestigious ranking from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). But this isn’t much of a surprise.

Mazda has focused on innovative safety features for years. The entire lineup received the Top Safety Pick+ designation in previous years, and the CX-30 just got up to speed.

To be a Top Safety Pick+, the vehicle must earn top ratings in three different front crash tests and one side impact simulation. The headlights are required to rank as acceptable or good.

Plus, the collision avoidance system must earn an advanced or superior rating during the day with amiable pedestrian protection at night.

Other awards for the Mazda CX-30 include:

  • Best SUV Brand – U.S.News
  • Best Residual Value – J.D.Power
  • Red Dot Design – Red Dot
  • Best SUV – Car and Driver
  • Crossover of the Year – Popular Mechanics
  • Top Rated Subcompact SUV – Consumer Reports
