Investing in vehicles is risky. That Nassau Blue C5 Chevrolet Corvette you expected to gain tremendous value might be a disappointment in the long run. Still, some cars seem to gain value better than others and could be lucrative investments. Check out some Porsche cars that analysts expect to pay off over time, like the Porsche 911 993 Carrera.

2024 could be your year to invest in one of these Porsches and make money on your car

If you’ve got your eyes set on a Porsche for 2024 (I know I do), you might want to throw in a facet of financial focus in your choice. If you make the right call, you might find Porsche speculation quite lucrative. Elferspot named these five cars as its investment picks for 2024.

  • 993 Carrera
  • 991 GT3
  • 944 S2
  • 997 GT2 RS
  • 918 Spyder

The Porsche 911 Carrera from the 993 generation (1994 to 1998) has the potential to increase in value in the coming years. According to Elferspot, the 993 Carrera 2 and Carrera 4 could be lucrative. See, the 993 cars are the final 911s with air-cooled engines. While that doesn’t seem too important, many traditionalists consider the 993 to be the last real 911. What’s more, the seldom-found-in-nature Targa model could prove quite valuable.

Moving on, the Porsche 991 GT3 is among the top prospects. However, there’s a caveat: the “Touring” package on the post-facelift 991.2 car is the way to go. If trends continue, a 991.2 GT3 Touring could be worth north of €200,000 (~$217,000) depending on condition and mileage.

Taking a break from the 911 lineage, the 944 S2 of the late 1980s and early 1990s are money-making prospects. Elferspot calls the S2 model “Maybe the best 944,” and “the most mature 944.” High praise, indeed. Fortunately for first-time Porsche collectors, S2s routinely go for around €20,000 (~$22,000) and are likely to appreciate.

Unsurprisingly, the return of round lamps makes the 997.1 more quintessentially 911 than the 996 it replaced. However, speculators will want the most razor-sharp of 997 models: the 997 GT2 RS. Still, the GT2 RS is an investment just to make it an investment; prices routinely hang out in the half-million-dollar range, per Classic.com. Woof.

Just when you thought nothing could be more of an initial investment than a 997 GT2 RS, Elferspot recommends the stunning Porsche 918 Spyder as one of its investment car picks for 2024. It’s true; we can’t imagine a world where collectors aren’t willing to pay top dollar for the 887-horsepower hybrid hypercar. However, at well over €1.3 million, you’ll have to spend money to make money.
