Racing can be a dangerous sport and isn’t necessarily what comes to mind when the public thinks of celebrity hobbies. Celebrities often make it into the news for things like giving to charities, problems with the law, or with their tumultuous romantic lives.

Very few make it into the news for racing cars. But, there are a surprising number of celebrities who spend their free time doing laps on the track. Actors like Patrick Dempsey, Steve McQueen, and Paul Walker are well-known for their passion for racing. However, here are four actors whose skills on the track are not so well-known but still deserving of praise.

Michelle Rodriguez

While she is well-known for her role in the Fast and Furious franchise, Girlfight, S.W.A.T., and Resident Evil, what many may not know is that Michelle doesn’t always rely on a stunt double to do her racing.

In 2016, Rodriguez starred in her own show Riding Shotgun with Michelle Rodriguez. In the show, she test drives some of the rarest, hottest cars in the world. As she whips around the track, she also displays her vast knowledge of cars.

Watching her expertly maneuver around the track just shows that Rodriguez is not just another actress who only sits in the driver’s seat when the wheels aren’t rolling.

Nick Mason

Nick Mason, one of the founding members of Pink Floyd, is a man of hidden talents. Not only is he one of the most famous drummers in the world, but Mason is also an aircraft pilot as well as a race car driver.

Mason is an avid collector of cars. In his massive collection, he owns a 1977 Ferrari 250 GTO, 1964 Aston Martin International, 1969 Lotus Elan 2 +2, and 2015 Audi RS 6, to name just a few.

His racing career resume includes the legendary race: 24 Hours of Le Mans. If you aren’t familiar with the 24 Hours of Le Mans, let’s just say that it’s brutal.

Just as the name implies, the race lasts a full 24 hours and consists of a team of drivers who take turns. Nick Mason completed seven hours in the driver seat at a consistent speed of 111 miles per hour. His team, the Dorset Racing Association, came in 11th place out of 55 teams.

Tim Allen

When Allen isn’t focused on making audiences laugh hysterically on shows and movies like Home Improvement, Last Man Standing, The Santa Clause, and Toy Story, you can find him racing.

He has driven in professional races such as Daytona.

Allen often has mock races with Jay Leno to see who can leave the longest burnout trails. They also had a drag race on Woodward Avenue which Allen says he’s “raced on quite a bit” in the past.

Megyn Price

The whole world was cheering Megyn Price when she participated in the 34th Annual Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race. Well actually, all except her two and half-year-old daughter, Grace. Her daughter reportedly put her foot down and said, “Mama will not drive a race car. Mama will play dress up!” Racing was absolutely out of the question as far as her daughter was concerned, and it appeared there was no room for argument.

Luckily, Price still participated in the race and went on to participate in the 35th Annual Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race.

While Price has not current aspirations for making racing a professional career, she is well-known for her roles in The Ranch, Rules of Engagement, and Grounded for Life
