In the age of massive, powerful trucks, they keep getting bigger and stronger. The Ram 1500 TRX has been enjoying its time in the spotlight, but it didn’t take the Ford F-150 Hennessey Venom long to fire back. Check out what this aftermarket Ford can do.

The Ford Venom 800 attacks the competition

The new Ford beast, known as the Hennessey Venom, is a big boy. It starts with a Ford F-150 SuperCrew that has a 5.0-liter V8 engine with a 3.0-liter supercharger to provide eight psi of boost. The Venom 600 has 805 horsepower and 727 lb-ft of torque.

With the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX, you get a 6.2-liter HEMI V8 with 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. So, it looks like the king of horsepower has fallen. However, can the Ford Venom accelerate from 0 to 60 mph faster than 4.5 seconds?

Yes, it can. According to AutoBlog, the Venom 800 takes about 3.6 seconds to reach 60 mph, so it’s faster and stronger. It’s about a whole second faster than the Ram 1500 TRX with a 102 hp advantage.

What’s in the Venom 800?

Along with the V8 engine and supercharger, the Ford Hennessey Venom is equipped with an upgraded cold air intake system, fuel pump, and fuel injectors. It also has a stainless steel exhaust system.

It is controlled by Brembo brakes that include six-piston front calipers and 15.1-inch front rotors. The truck has a 10-speed automatic transmission and comes with four-wheel drive.

For off-roading, this beast has a six-inch lift kit, beefier shocks that have internal reservoirs, and 20-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch tires. Also, for looks, this truck has LED lights embedded into a custom front bumper, a model-specific grille, and tons of emblems and decals to show off what you’ve got. Plus, on the inside, you’ll find a turner and numbered plague in the dashboard.

Hennessey Venom 800 features

The Ford Hennessey Venom doesn’t come cheap. The super truck is currently priced at $149,500 and will only be offered at select Ford dealerships and via Hennessey directly. To make the struggle to get one worse, Hennessey only plans on building 100 Venom 800 trucks for 2021.

That high price tag doesn’t include delivery or optional upgrades. But it doesn’t include the donor Ford F-150 and a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty. For over $149k, we would like to see a better warranty included.

The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX starts around $69,995, so it provides tons of savings in comparison. Saving with the TRX may help you forget that it’s not the fastest, beefiest truck available. The TRX launch edition has already sold out, but other trim models are still available.

Ford has only used the VENOM trademark on a small number of super vehicles in the 29-year history of Hennessey. The 805 bhp truck upgrade is finally an example of a new truck that’s worthy of the name.
