The 2021 Ford Raptor may offer two engines

Hot off the presses, we have a rumor from a secret Ford person that the 2021 Ford Raptor will offer two different engine options. The new Ford Raptor could come with the PowerHouse HO as the entry-level engine.

The PowerHouse HO is the name of the Ford F-150 hybrid engine. However, there are two possible hybrid builds. The Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring has a 3.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 engine paired with electric motors to provide 464-hp and 630 lb-ft of torque.

However, the build that’s currently coming to the 14th generation Ford F-150 PowerBoost hybrid is the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. This engine is currently in the non-electrified Ford Raptor and pumps out 450-hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. Some speculate that the larger displacement engine could help the Ford Raptor achieve over 500-hp.

However, having 500-hp wouldn’t be enough power to catch up to the Ram 1500 TRX, which has a V8 engine that pumps out 702-hp. That’s why the 2021 Ford Raptor is also rumored to be getting a V8 engine.

If the Ford Raptor uses the same 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine found in the Mustang GT500, it could pump out around 725-hp. This would put Ford back on top with the king of off-roading trucks.

A V6 hybrid engine may keep the entry price of the Ford Raptor around $55,000. This is a lot cheaper than the Ram 1500 TRX, which starts around $70,000.

However, the V8 engine option could cause a spike in the price. Also, it’s rumored that Ford may limit the production of the Ford Raptor with V8 engines. It could be a special edition that sells out quickly.

2021 Ford Raptor updates

Along with giving buyers two engine choices, the 2021 Ford Raptor could come with a better suspension. Spy shots suggested that the new Raptor has coil springs in the rear for a higher ground clearance and tighter exhaust system.

The suspension still includes the use of electronically controlled Fox Shock absorbers. Once the system senses that your truck is airborne, they will go into action to provide a smoother landing. This will provide a smoother ride on pavement and over bumpy terrain as well.

We haven’t seen the new Ford Raptor yet, but we can speculate that it will have an updated look, like the 2021 Ford F-150. LED lights will probably provide a more aggressive face with chrome badging and a new grille. Also, the Raptor will sit on some large off-roading tires.

The interior may have a facelift and provide a modern feel with all the tech bells and whistles. The 2021 Ford Raptor could get the larger, vertical infotainment center that the Ford F-150 got, chairs that fold flat for napping, and more.
