2023 was a huge year for Taylor Swift. She had the highest-grossing concert tour of all time, the highest-grossing concert movie of all time, became a billionaire, and was named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year. But some Minnesotans might say Taylor Swift’s biggest accomplishment of 2023 was finally having a snowplow truck named in her honor.

Every year, the Minnesota Department of Transportation invites residents to suggest names for its plow trucks. The entire state votes on eight winners. Then the trucks’ new names emblazoned along the top of their dump bodies. Considering how popular the contest is with school students, I’m shocked Taylor Swift has yet to be honored. But in 2023, the people of Minnesota set things right and Taylor Drift is heroically clearing the roads of central Minnesota. Here are all the winners for winter 2023-2024:

  1. Taylor Drift
  2. Clark W. Blizzwald
  3. Dolly Plowton
  4. Waipahinte (Dakota word for “snowplow”)
  5. Beyonsleigh
  6. You’re Killin’ Me Squalls
  7. Fast and Flurrious
  8. Barbie’s Dream Plow

Taylor Drift won by a landslide (snowslide?) That name received 12,027 votes. Clark W. Blizzwald got just 6,667. Both Dolly Plowton and Beyonsleigh also received more than 6,000 votes. Minnesota’s plow names never disappoint. You may still remember the 2022-2023 winners. But let me refresh your memory:

I know what you are wondering, does Minnesota just rename the same snow plows every year? Not as far as I can tell. Minnesota DOT says it currently has over 30 named plows, so I suspect they just name eight new plows every year. Thus the older plows get to keep their names.

Does Taylor Swift know there’s a snow plow in Minnesota named in her honor? So far, she has made no official statement. But Lizzo did post a video about her Blizzo plow, so maybe Swift, Beyoncé, and Dolly will acknowledge receiving the greatest honor Minnesotans can bestow.
