The 2017 Honda Civic can be found on used car lots for around $22,785 on average, and for that price, drivers get a solid car with excellent fuel economy. The 2017 Honda Civic also received all five-star safety ratings from the NHTSA and an IIHS top safety pick award.

If the compact Honda Civic is too small for you, the Honda Accord offers just about everything the Honda Civic has, with added passenger room and cargo space. The 2015 Toyota Avalon may be a little older than the other offerings on this list, but it is by far the most luxurious. The Avalon is a large car that offers Lexus quality at a Toyota price with Toyota reliability. The Avalon also comes standard with a rearview camera, while adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts are available on some models.

At $21,107 on average, the Avalon is a safe, affordable luxury car, with the car receiving all four and five-star NHTSA ratings and an IIHS top safety pick award.

2019 Subaru Impreza Wagon

The 2019 Impreza Wagon is the newest car on this list, but it is still an affordable pick, with used examples averaging $23,784 on used car lots. The Impreza wagon comes standard with all-wheel drive, solid fuel economy with 31 combined mpg, and a rearview camera standard. The 2019 Impreza received all five-star ratings from the NHTSA and an IIHS top safety pick + award for the year.

2017 Toyota Prius one of the most reliable used cars

Averaging around $24,967 for used models, the 2017 Toyota Prius is the closest to our $25,000 spending limit on this list. Still, it does offer some of the best fuel-saving capabilities with excellent fuel economy. The 2017 Toyota Prius achieves a fuel economy rating of 58 mpg city and 53 mpg highway. Alongside this efficiency, the Prius also received an IIHS top safety pick + award for 2017 and mainly received five and four-star ratings from the NHTSA.
