If you want more power, prepare your wallet. The Ram 1500 Hurricane engine packs tons of desirable power, but it comes at the cost of fuel. Unfortunately, the 2025 Ram 1500 didn’t make massive improvements to its fuel economy.

How many mpg does the 2025 Ram 1500 hurricane get?

The 2025 Ram 1500 equipped with the Hurrine standard output engine gets an EPA-estimated 17 mpg in the city, 24 mpg combined, and 19 mpg on the highway. The twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine provides 420 hp and 468 lb-ft of torque.

With the outgoing model, the 5.7-liter V8 engine gets an EPA-estimated 18 mpg in the city, 22 mpg combined, and up to 19 mpg on the highway. It provides 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque.

So, while you do get more power, fuel savings will be hard to come by unless you drive more efficiently on the highway.

The Ram 1500 with the Hurrican High Output engine gets an EPA-estimated 15 mpg in the city, 21 mpg combined, and up to 17 mpg on the highway. So, that’s a thirsty truck with 540 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque.

You might want to go for the Ram 1500 TRX before it’s gone. It gets an EPA-estimated 10 mpg in the city, 14 mg combined, and up to 12 mpg on the highway, but provides 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque.

Plus, to reach the full potential of the Hurrican H.O. engine, you have to use premium fuel. The 1500 TRX only requires mid-grade fuel.

Unless you go for the Ford F-150 Hybrid, electric truck, or a smaller option, don’t expect to find a better fuel economy. The Ram 1500 falls right in with its rivals. Also, the F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

While the 2025 Ram truck starts at $42,270, you have to upgrade to the Limited trim to access the Hurrican H.O. engine. It begins at $77,150, so the upgrade cost from the basics to high output power is $34,880.The 2024 Ram TRX starts at $87,090.
