Driving can be one of the most liberating experiences. However, it can also be incredibly dangerous. This fact is on full display in a recent story about a young woman who evaded a traffic stop and led police on a high-speed chase. Sadly, her actions resulted in multiple car wrecks.

Not only did she evade a traffic stop, but the driver reached extreme speeds

According to CBS17 News, North Carolina police officers recently tried to conduct a traffic stop on a driver. The reason for the attempted stop was that she was speeding. Of course, she was later identified as Evelyn Diaz-Lopez,18. However, despite their best efforts, she refused to stop, leading the police officers on a dangerous chase.

According to the reports, she reached speeds of 99 MPH and then 150 MPH as the trooper tried to make the traffic stop. Sadly, things worsened as she caused two car wrecks while trying to get away from the police. These crashes resulted in four vehicles sustaining damage, and the cost of the damages is said to be in excess of $1,000. Things don’t stop here as, of course, she fled the scene of both car accidents.

After the second of the two car wrecks, the driver was forced to flee on foot. However, the police officers could then catch up and place her in handcuffs. Not only did she provide a false name, but she did not have a driver’s license at the time. Following the attempted traffic stop, police officers charged her with the following:

  • Fleeing/eluding arrest with motor vehicle
  • Reckless driving with wanton disregard
  • Failure to heed police lights/sirens
  • Two counts of hit-and-run with property damage
  • Resisting public officer
  • Two counts of Speeding
  • Fictitious information to an officer
  • Failure to carry a valid driver’s license

Her bond was $200,000, and she will have a court appearance soon.
