Article highlights for MotorTrend’s most popular new cars right now:

  • The 2022 Rivian R1T is one of MotorTrends most popular new cars
  • The Ford Mustang Mach-E was another big hit
  • Ford had some other popular new cars such as the Ford Bronco and Ford Maverick

With all of the turmoil on the new car and used car market, what are the most popular new vehicles people are searching for?

MotorTrend’s most searched new car is the 2022 Rivian R1T

MotorTrend listed the Rivan R1T at the top of the list for the most popular new car searches in September. It is also the latest car to join the MotorTrend list. It is no surprise the first electric vehicle truck to hit the market made quite a splash. As we speak, the 2022 Rivian R1T is rolling out, and you can see one of these electric trucks on the road quite soon.

Another new car, the Ford Mustang Mach-E EV

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E has been in the news a lot lately. With fairly stellar sales and a slightly embarrassing recall (after mocking Tesla for the same issue), the Mach-E is a popular new car. MotorTrend says the Ford “SUV might finally make electric cars cool for buyers who aren’t interested in a Tesla.”

Don’t overlook the Subaru Crosstrek

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek has good reason to be so popular. It is generally first on the list for “best subcompact SUVs” and offers drivers a ton of features. Subaru comes with a lot of safety features standard, all-wheel drive, and cool new colors. It isn’t the most exciting ride on the market, but it is a safe option.

A larger new car option is the Lincoln Navigator

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator is getting a longer cousin, the long-wheelbase Navigator L. The 2022 Navigator is the fourth generation of the SUV and is getting some much-needed upgrades. Hands-free driver assist, new headlights, updated grille, and heated/ventilated seats. It will also get a heavy-duty trailer tow package option.

The much-anticipated Toyota Tundra

The 2022 Toyota Tundra is highly anticipated. This is the first redesign of the Toyota Tundra in more than a decade, which is a big deal for the much-loved truck. A totally redesigned exterior meets an upgraded interior and engine with two different V6 options.

A reliable compact SUV option, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

The 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is the RAV4 but all grown up. While the regular 2021 RAV4 is OK, the hybrid is the “most dynamically satisfying yet of the lineup.” Getting 42 mpg overall before the gas kicks in has the highest range of any plug-in hybrid SUV.

The Genesis GV80 has an “ultra-posh” interior

The 2021 Genesis GV80 impressed MotorTrend. The inside offers quilted leather, real wood, and a large 14.5-inch infotainment screen. The engine wasn’t as exciting as it could be, and the all-wheel drive version was pretty heavy. The GV80 has a price tag of under $70,000 for all it offers in the luxury car category.

The 2021 Ford Bronco doesn’t leave the news cycle. After 25 years off the market, buyers are (rightfully) obsessed with the SUV. It comes in a two-door and a four-door option, with some excellent trim level options. It also comes with two engine styles. Starting at $30,000, the Bronco is a highly customizable new car.

The Kia Telluride is highly sought after

You could say 2021 was the year of the Kia Telluride. Now, the 2022 Kia Telluride is making waves. MotorTrend gave it the SUV of the year award, and for a good reason. The Telluride has every bell and whistle drivers could want wrapped in a cool SUV package. If you can get your hands on one, that is.

The new car research also includes the Ford Maverick

The 2022 Ford Maverick is just another piece in Ford’s successful chess game. Alone with the Mustang Mach-E, the Bronco, and the Ford F-150 Lightning, the Maverick truck fits right in. The light-duty pickup truck combines the best of many worlds. It shares a platform with the Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Escape, but in a pickup truck body. That really does check all of the boxes.

There is a new car option for everyone

With so many new cars, trucks, and SUVs hitting the market, there are choices all over. Gone are the days of one or two options in your price range. There’s now an overwhelming amount of vehicles to choose from. While the semiconductor chip issues continue to plague the industry, the amount of new and exciting cars ahead is the silver lining. Keep an eye out for that 2022 Rivian R1T electric truck, too.
