Some SUVs are huge sucesses. Others don’t quite hit the mark for automakers. Luxury models can often become unpopular to consumers because of their value proposition in the eyes of the general public. One Infiniti SUV sells significantly less than competitors.

The Infiniti QX30 is a compact crossover that the Japanese automaker produced for less than three years. Production on the QX30 began in 2016, and by the time two business quarters had gone by in 2019, Infiniti knew it had to axe the nameplate.

Automakers stop producing nameplates after supply significantly outweighs demand. In some cases, the public will collectively voice their negative opinion of a particular nameplate. Car and Driver reviewed the 2017 Infiniti QX30, 2018 QX30, and 2019 QX30. Each model year received the same overall score from the automotive publication.

Car and Driver found that the QX30’s gas mileage didn’t cut the mustard (28 mpg combined). The QX30’s best configurations were also pretty pricey compared to competitors. According to USA Today, the Infiniti QX30 was one of the worst-selling SUVs of the decade back in 2019. The brand only sold 27,257 units in three years. So, not Infiniti’s best SUV by a long shot.

It uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder engine to make 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The QX50 gets 23 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway.

U.S. News & World Report claims that the 2023 QX50 has a roomy cargo area, a comfy cabin, and affordable pricing. TrueCar praises its performance and styling. The 2023 Inifiniti QX50 is a decent small luxury SUV, but it can’t touch the top dogs in its segment.
