Lordstown Motors was founded back in 2018 by Steve Burns, former CEO of Workhorse group. Four years later, the automaker has officially delivered its first electric pickup truck, the 2023 Lordstown Endurance.

The 2023 Lordstown Endurance starts at $60,375. It gets 200 miles of driving range. The Endurance uses a quad-motor powertrain system to make 440 horsepower.

The 2023 Endurance’s specs aren’t anything spectacular, but it will be one of the only electric pickup trucks on the market. The Lordstown Endurance arrives after the Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Lightning, and GMC Hummer EV, respectively, beating Tesla to the punch despite the Cybertruck’s 2019 reveal. Reuters claims that the Cybertruck’s production has been pushed back thrice.

So, what does the Lordstown Motors Endurance have in common with the Apple iPhone? Both products are manufactured by Foxconn. Foxconn is an electronics manufacturer that has helped produce products like the iPad, iPhone, Kindle, Google Pixel, and more. Foxconn is an experienced manufacturer that has produced some of the most notable devices and products of our time. So, if Foxconn is involved with the production of the Lordstown Motors Endurance, consumers expect a certain degree of quality that they may not have associated with a startup company.

Is the 2023 Lordstown Endurance a good pickup truck?

The Lordstown Endurance is pricier than the base model Ford F-150 Lightning. It has less driving range than the Blue Oval’s electric pickup truck.

Car and Driver praises the Endurance for its steering. The automotive publication claims that it was “designed for easy maintenance”. Ultimately, the 2023 Lordstown Endurance is a decent electric pickup truck, but it can’t compete with the Ford F-150 Lightning from a value perspective.

The nameplate will evolve over time, and the Lordstown Endurance could play an important role in its segment in the future. For now, it’s the wild wild west of EVs, and every automaker is attempting to get in where they fit in. The Lordstown Endurance may not be the most exciting electric pickup truck in the space, but it’s certainly intriguing. Foxconn recently proposed a huge $170 million dollar investment into the EV automaker. This partnership could make Lordstown Motors a formidable opponent for its rivals.

Is the Lordstown Endurance the best electric pickup truck on the market? Probably not. That being said, the nameplate could become huge in the electric truck space in the years to come. Lordstown Motors’ partnership with Foxconn could produce some of the most impactful electric vehicles ever made.
