The Infiniti QX80 is the Japanese luxury brand’s biggest, fanciest, and priciest SUV. Based on the Nissan Armada, the QX80 is a value-oriented alternative to the sales leaders in full-size luxury SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator. The Infiniti may be a bit outdated compared to its more modern and luxurious rivals, but its attractive pricing makes it an appealing option.

For its 2024 model year debut, adding to its appeal is a new option package for the top Sensory trim of the QX80. Here’s what buyers can expect from the available Dark Chrome Appearance Package.

2024 Infiniti QX80 features and options

Before getting into the new option package, let’s look at some of the features and options on the 2024 Infiniti QX80 full-size luxury SUV. The base Luxe trim starts at $74,150, which is the lowest starting price in this class. It’s well-equipped with features like a 400-hp V8 engine, three-row seating, 20-inch wheels, a power sunroof, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and modern safety tech like automatic emergency braking. You also get a 12.3-inch touchscreen with connectivity features like Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, and a Bose 12-speaker audio system.

The Premium Select trim is in the middle of the model range and starts at $78,300. This popular trim adds a dark appearance package, 22-inch wheels, Matte Mocha Burl interior trim, and two interior color options.

What is the Dark Chrome Appearance Package?

The Dark Chrome Appearance Package is a new option for the 2024 Infiniti QX80, specifically the Sensory trim, which starts at $85,350. It takes styling elements from the midrange Premium Select trim and adds them to the Sensory trim. This option package follows a growing trend of darker exterior elements, especially on luxury vehicles.

As its name implies, it includes tasteful use of dark chrome on the grille surround, front fascia trim, fender vents, and liftgate trim. It also has black-painted mirror caps rather than the standard chrome. It only costs an extra $750 to bring this stylish appearance package to the QX80 Sensory.

So, why would anyone want the Dark Chrome Appearance Package when you can get a similar look on the Premium Select trim? It’s because the Sensory trim is more luxurious and comes with more standard features.

For starters, it’s the only trim with the Hydraulic Body Motion Control system, giving it a more comfortable and car-like ride. Luxurious interior features include quilted semi-aniline leather seats, heated and cooled front seats, heated second-row seats, a black tricot headliner, Charcoal Burl interior trim, an advanced climate control system with auto recirculation and Plasmacluster technology, and a Bose Performance Series 17-speaker premium audio system. It also has an adaptive front lighting system, improving safety and visibility.

What else is new for the QX80?

The Dark Chrome Appearance Package was the only addition to the Infiniti QX80 for the 2024 model year. However, unfortunately, there were also some notable subtractions. The previously optional rear entertainment system is no longer available. Infiniti has also discontinued three paint options for the QX80: Liquid Platinum, Black Obsidian, and Coulis Red.
