Ford has been making great strides with the addition of electric vehicles (EVs) to its lineup. Among its offerings, the Ford electric work van has recently gained significant attention and interest. As more businesses seek sustainable transportation solutions, the popularity of electric work vans has risen.

Looking at the sales figures and market response to Ford’s electric work van, we get some insights into how popular it is and how it’s faring in the commercial vehicle segment.

Ford’s electric vans are up almost 63% since 2022

The E-Transit, Ford’s electric work van, has been making waves in the commercial vehicle market with its impressive sales performance. A recent Ford press release allows us to compare numbers from Q1 in 2022 to sales from Q1 2023.

The E-Transit shows a remarkable surge in popularity with an impressive growth rate of almost 63%. The jump in sales illustrates the growing demand for electric work vans and the industry’s increasing adoption of sustainable transportation solutions.

Such an increase in numbers can be attributed to a few things. Businesses across various sectors are increasingly seeking environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional combustion engine vehicles. The E-Transit offers an attractive proposition with its zero-emission electric powertrain, enabling companies to reduce their carbon footprint and meet their sustainability goals.

With a range of up to 126 miles on a single charge, the E-Transit offers ample flexibility for both cities and neighborhoods. Its spacious cargo capacity and configurable interior allow for efficient transportation of goods and equipment, catering to diverse business needs.

A closer look at the numbers

In the first quarter of 2023, the E-Transit put up impressive numbers, making it a top contender in the commercial vehicle market. During this period, Ford sold a total of 1,168 units of the E-Transit, a notable 62.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

When considering the overall sales of Ford’s Transit lineup, the E-Transit accounted for a significant portion. Out of the total Transit sales, which reached 32,015 units in the first quarter of 2023, the E-Transit alone made up 3.6% of the overall sales.

The robust performance of the E-Transit reflects the market’s increasing acceptance of electric commercial vehicles and Ford’s ability to meet the evolving needs of businesses.

A promising future for Ford

The growing popularity of Ford’s E-Transit electric work van not only highlights its success but also indicates the promising trajectory of the electric work truck market as a whole. While the E-Transit has gained significant traction, it’s worth exploring other electric work trucks in the market.

The Chevrolet Silverado Electric is an all-electric version of the popular pickup truck. With its robust performance, capable towing capacity, and extended range, the Silverado Electric aims to provide businesses with a reliable and sustainable work truck option.

There’s also the Rivian R1T. Rivian, an emerging electric vehicle manufacturer, offers the R1T as an electric pickup truck designed to handle rugged work environments. With impressive off-road capabilities, advanced electric drivetrain technology, and a roomy cargo bed, the R1T aims to cater to the needs of adventure-driven professionals.

The rise in popularity of Ford’s E-Transit signals a positive trend for the entire electric work truck market. As more businesses look for ways to reduce their carbon footprint, the demand for electric commercial vehicles will grow.
