Alfa Romeo Tonale is the brand’s first entry into alternative fuel models as a plug-in hybrid SUV. It is a compact luxury SUV that combines advanced technology with Italian design, a first for the more than 100-year-old company. The Tonale debuted as a concept car at the 2019 Geneva auto show and has taken a long time to reach production.

As a luxury SUV, how much can car shoppers expect to pay for a Tonale, both at its base level and top trim with all the bells and whistles? Here’s how much a fully loaded 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale costs.

Pricing and features for the base 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale

According to the Alfa Romeo website, the base-level Sprint trim has an MSRP of $42,995. Each model comes standard with all-wheel drive and a 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The system also supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and Alexa-driven voice commands.

The Sprint’s powertrain pairs a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine with a single electric motor, which produces 285 combined horsepower. And while all four wheels get power, the electric handles the rear wheels while the engine manages the front wheels. The transmission is a six-speed AISIN F21-250 PHEV and a 15.5-kWh battery offers a range of over 30 miles.

The Sprint features 18-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lamps, adaptive LED Trilobo headlights, power-folding heated side mirrors, heated washer nozzles, rain-sensing wipers, keyless enter and go, a body-colored rear spoiler, and remote start.

Alfa Romeo didn’t cut corners when it came to the Tonale’s safety measures. Rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assistance, lane departure warning, and blind-spot monitors are all standard. Additionally, there is autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control available on each model.

Building off the TI, the Veloce has an MSRP of $49,695. It has the same powertrain as the Sprint and the TI. It has three packages available: the premium interior package, the premium interior sound package, and the active assist package.

The premium interior package is $1,500 and comes with perforated leather seats. The premium interior sound package is $2,500 and comes with perforated leather seats as well as a Harman Kardon premium audio system, a driver seat memory function, and perforated leather seats.

The Veloce comes with all-wheel drive, like the other two models, but with the addition of adaptive suspension.

What packages and options can you add to your fully loaded 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale?

A power moonroof is among several add-ons and accessories you can add. The power sunroof will add $1,200 to the purchase price. A 20-inch x 8.0-inch Grigio 5-hole wheel is also available as an add-on for $2,000. The Tonale TI EAWD can be equipped with a high-performance driving package for $1,500 that includes aluminum steer column-mounted paddle shifters, aluminum pedals, and gloss-red calipers with white script.

The TI is also offered with an active assist package for $1,850 that features an active driving assist feature, automatic-dimming rear exterior mirror, ParkSense front, rear, and side park assist, and a surround-view camera system.

Alfa Romeo has finally stepped back into the American market with the Tonale. The competitive American market may make it hard to please consumers, but the Tonale is a good start. However, the European market will see the Tonale sooner than the American market, which is set to debut later this year.

Also, if you are looking for EV tax credits, as of January 2023, the IRS says Tonale doesn’t qualify for a $7,500 tax credit if it is purchased. However,  if you’re leasing one, it does.
