Why does an SUV lineup need two massive three-row vehicles? The Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevy Suburban are siblings that probably have to share the same bedroom. But the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe have unique advantages to offer. 

How are the 2024 Chevy Suburban and Tahoe different?

The 2024 Chevy Suburban and Tahoe are both considered to be full-size SUVs with seating for up to nine passengers. However, the Suburban is actually bigger than the Tahoe. 

You can compare them to the Ford Expedition and the Expedition Max. If you need more cargo and passenger space then the Suburban might be a better fit than the Tahoe. 

The Suburban has a longer wheelbase of 134 inches and could provide a smoother ride as a result. The Tahoe has a 120.9-inch wheelbase. 

Also, the Suburban is 225.7 inches long, 81.1 inches wide, and 75.7 inches tall. The Tahoe is 210.7 inches long, 81.1 inches long, and 75.8 inches tall.

Basically, the Suburban is longer. It provides 45.1 cubic feet behind the third row, 93.8 cubes behind the second row, and up to 144.7 cubes overall. The Suburban can tow up to 8,300 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,884 lbs. 

With the Chevy Tahoe, you get 25.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, 72.6 cubes behind the second row, and up to 122.9 cubes total. The Tahoe can tow up to 8,400 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,834 lbs. 

The 2024 Chevy Suburban has an MSRP of $59,200 while the 2024 Chevy Tahoe starts at $56,200. So it costs $3,000 to upgrade for extra space. The upgrade cost between the Expedition and Expedition Max is also $3,000. 

Both the Tahoe and Suburban start with the same standard engine. The 5.3-liter V8 unit cranks out 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Higher trim levels get a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. 

Last but not least, both vehicles can be equipped with the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six diesel engine with 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. 

The Tahoe and Suburban start with the same standard features. Deciding between these SUVs may come down to if you need extra space and their unique styles.
