When Mercedes goes upmarket to the Maybach level, a hood ornament is part of the conversation. Currently, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS also features a hood ornament. We’re uncertain whether the new Maybach EQS SUV’s hood ornament will be retractable, but it will adorn the top front of the SUV, announcing the presence of this new high-end EV.

What else does this new electric Mercedes SUV include?

The new 2024 Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV has only been seen wearing camouflage, but Carscoops tells us to expect a fully enclosed grille, revamped badging, and a modified bumper. The exterior changes slightly, limiting what we know and see in this new high-end SUV. Most of the new changes should appear in the cabin area and powertrain.

In addition to these small changes, the Maybach emblem will appear on the rear pillars, with the three-point Mercedes-Benz star adorning the front as the hood ornament. Hopefully, This hood ornament isn’t removable.

What is the range of the Maybach EQS SUV?

The 2024 Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV rides on the EVA II architecture used for all EQE and EQS models. This all-electric SUV receives a 107.8-kWh battery to deliver a driving range of 365 miles on a full charge. The two electric motors provide 536 horsepower and 633 lb-ft of torque, which is enough power to send this EV to 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds.

We could see this new SUV add the AMG twin-motor setup that produces 649 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. If so, this high-end Mercedes electric SUV could hit 60 mph in less than four seconds.

Where will this new Mercedes electric SUV be built?

You might think the top-end version of a Mercedes-Benz SUV would be produced close to home, but that’s not the case. The same Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, that builds the regular EQS SUV will also make the new Maybach variant. Initially, the Maybach version was supposed to be part of the 2023 lineup, but it hasn’t made it to the market yet.

How much does a Maybach EQS cost?

Although we don’t have the official pricing, we can take an educated guess. The EQS 580 SUV costs $126,000, which should put the Maybach version at a starting price of nearly $188,000. It wouldn’t be a stretch to find a 700-horsepower version of the 2024 Maybach EQS SUV priced at more than $220,000.

Is it worth it to drive a Maybach?

The Maybach name represents another, higher level of luxury from the Mercedes-Benz lineup. Anytime the Maybach name is used, the vehicle competes in a small market with Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
