The 2022 Honda CR-V starts at $26,400. It uses a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine to make 190 horsepower. The small SUV achieves 28 miles per gallon in the city and 34 miles per gallon on the highway.

The CR-V comes standard with cloth upholstery, a USB port, a four-speaker stereo system, and a 5.0-inch infotainment system. It also includes standard forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, and road departure warning.

The 2022 Honda CR-V comes in five different trim levels. None of these trim levels are particularly adept at off-roading. It has just 7.8 inches of ground clearance. The small SUV doesn’t have enough ground clearance to easily power through tricky terrain. Its low ground clearance and lack of skid plates are a recipe for disaster off-road. The CR-V is many things, but it certainly isn’t an off-road SUV.

The 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness is the quintessential small off-road SUV. It starts at $33,020. The small SUV uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine to make 182 horsepower. It achieves 25 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon on the highway.

The Forester Wilderness has a whopping 9.2 inches of ground clearance. It comes standard with a front skit plate. The Forester Wilderness includes Yokohama GEOLANDAR all-terrain tires. It also comes with dual function X-Mode, a feature that adjusts the small SUV to different driving conditions like deep snow and mud.

When it comes to off-roading, it doesn’t get much better than the Forester Wilderness without spending the big bucks. If you’re looking for a great small off-road SUV, the Forester Wilderness is a much better choice than the CR-V.

Should you buy a 2022 Honda CR-V?

The Honda CR-V is one of the most well-rounded compact SUV models on the market. The RAV4 and Honda CR-V have plenty of competition in their segment, but they’ve left enough of an impact on consumers to be worth considering for a long time.

The 2022 Honda CR-V is worth buying because it has a spacious cabin and cargo area. It is enjoyable to drive and has decent fuel economy. According to Car and Driver, the EX Hybrid is the best CR-V trim to buy for the money. It starts at $31,610. The CR-V isn’t meant for the road less traveled, but it’s a great daily driver.
