Not everyone is in the market for a luxury SUV, but that only makes the segment more competitive. The fierce competition for the 2023 Maserati Levante only made the luxury SUV perform at a higher level. What does the Maserati SUV have to offer shoppers? Luxury design, engine power, and expert handling are essential reasons for consumers’ interest in the Levante. Corsa mode in the Maserati Levante Trofeo is worth $160,000 by itself, but you might have to feel it to believe it.

The most luxurious Maserati SUV on the market right now is the 2023 Maserati Levante Trofeo. This is the top-trim level of the Levante model, and a fully loaded version starts at $162,000 or so. Maserati sent us the SUV to try out for a week, and it had all of the accouterments of a luxury SUV. The exterior styling is refined and looks like one might expect a Maserati SUV to look like. Our test vehicle had 22-inch wheels and an adaptive air suspension for a cushioned ride.

With three different drive modes, the Levante offers a customized ride experience. Most of our time was spent in Normal or Sport mode. Normal provides the most cushioned ride, suitable for everyday driving, and better fuel economy. Sport mode was a fun jump-up, offering a more spirited ride across town. There is also an Off-Road mode for those who dabble in dirt. However, Corsa mode is the pièce de résistance on the luxury SUV.

Corsa mode allows the Levante Trofeo to shift faster and sound better while dropping the suspension significantly. This mode will enable you to use launch control, which turns off traction control and other driver aids. Corsa mode was probably the highlight of our time with the Levante Trofeo, combining race car handling with performance SUV power. As the fastest SUV in Maserati’s lineup, the Levante delivers on its promises.

What is the top speed of the Maserati Levante SUV?

The Maserati Levante Trofeo SUV has a top speed of 187 mph and a zero to 60 mph time of 3.8 seconds. As the top-level trim, the maximum speed for the Maserati Levante goes from 187 mph down to 156 mph for the GT, which is still a respectable top speed. The table below shows the various price ranges for the base GT up to the fully loaded Trofeo.

Maserati SUV price and engine specs

No matter which of these Maserati SUVs you go with, the horsepower and torque will make you smile. Maserati uses Ferrari engines throughout the lineup, which deliver speed and power as promised. The price is high, but if you are looking off the beaten path (hypothetically speaking, use Off-Road mode if you do) – the Levante is worth a look.

Does the Maserati SUV handle well?

As one might expect, the Maserati Levante SUV handles quite well—the modes mentioned before cater to each individual ride and driver. In Off-Road mode, the Levante adds 40 mm height to make short work of challenging terrains. Maserati also has Aero models to minimize aerodynamic resistance and maximize speed.

The automaker uses its intelligent all-wheel drive system to stabilize the luxury SUV in all conditions. On top of that, the upgraded suspension does an excellent job of absorbing bumps on the road. The Levante Trofeo came with high-performance Brembo brakes, which lived up to expectations set forth in Fast & Furious.

After spending time behind the wheel of the Maserati Levante, it makes a lot of sense. The luxury SUV feels safe and secure on the road while providing an elevated driving experience. It would make for an expensive daily driver, but the return on happiness (ROH) might be worth the trade-off.
