The 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 is slightly cheaper

The 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD price starts at $35,300. Seems pretty reasonable, doesn’t it? Well, that price can get a whole lot higher, and if you want it fully loaded, it’s going to. Opt for the Crew Cab with the Long Bed, for example, and you’re already up to $43,595. Make that a High Country with a 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 engine matched to a 10-speed automatic transmission and you’re looking at $76,595.

The 2022 Ford F-250 price starts at $37,495 for the XL base-level trim. The F-250 XLT price starts at $42,220, and the Super Duty Lariat costs $50,605. The King Ranch takes the price up a little higher, to $65,595. The Platinum costs $68,910, and the high-end Ford F-250 Limited price starts at $87,630.

The Silverado has better reliability and owner satisfaction scores

Consumer Reports gives the 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD a 4/5 for both predicted reliability and predicted owner satisfaction. In fact, the Silverado ranks first for reliability out of all of the big trucks. As far as the predicted owner satisfaction, current Silverado owners love the driving experience, comfort, and styling. Value, however, was less than average, at just 34/100.

The 2022 Ford F-250 only gets a 3/5 for predicted reliability. Its owner satisfaction score is 4/5. Styling gets the best score for the F-250, at an 84, while driving experience gets an 82. Comfort gets a 74 and it’s worth noting that the value score for the Ford F-250 is higher than the Silverado 2500’s, at a 42.

The Ford Super Duty has powerful engine choices

The Ford Super Duty can come with one of three engines. There’s a 6.2-liter V8 available that makes 385 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque and is matched to a 6-speed transmission. Then there’s a 7.3-liter V8 that makes 430 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Finally, the F-250 can come with a 6.7-liter turbocharged diesel V8 that puts out 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque and is also matched to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The Silverado 2500 has two engine options. One is a 6.6-liter V8 that makes 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. The other is a 6.6-liter V8 that puts out 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque. There are also two transmissions available; a 10-speed automatic transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Both the 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 and 2022 Ford F-250 are excellent large pickup trucks with a whole lot to offer. So which one is best? The Silverado 2500 has a better reliability rating, which is a huge draw. It’s also slightly cheaper, which is an added bonus. Until both pickup trucks have crash test ratings, it’s hard to get a sense of which is all around the better truck. Yet its combination of style, price, and reliability make the Silverado a better choice.
