The good news keeps rolling in for Ford as the Ford F-Series remains America’s best-selling truck for the 46th year. Not only that, but the F-Series truck has been the best-selling vehicle in America for 41 years. The automaker has something for everyone, from the base-level F-150 to the ludicrous $92,000 Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck.

America’s best-selling truck is still the Ford F-Series

Ford did it again! After 46 years, the Ford F-Series remains America’s best-selling truck. In 2022, Ford sold 640,000 trucks alone and estimated one F-Series truck every 49 seconds. There are various ways to configure the F-Series truck, from the ever-popular F-150 all the way up to the F-550 Heavy Duty version.

The automaker says that if you lined up all of the Ford trucks that sold in 2022, it would extend 2,400 miles. That’s further than Los Angeles to Detroit.

“The Ford truck team’s ability to anticipate customer needs, continuously innovate, and provide best-in-class levels of capability and performance has helped make F-Series the sales leader time and time again. We’re honored and humbled that our customers have helped us achieve this milestone for more than four decades.”

Ford’s F-Series lineup is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year after a successful launch for the all-electric Lightning last year. The automaker says it was the best-selling EV pickup on the market then, even though it was alone in that segment for the most part.

The new F-Series Super Duty lineup has more than 150,000 orders after being announced, following in the footsteps of the Lightning. Ford anticipates deliveries for the Super Duty will start early this year. On top of that, the Ford Maverick and Ranger have racked up plenty of orders. Ford Maverick sales were at almost 70,000 for 2022 back in November, while the Ranger was already over 50,000. So while the F-Series is America’s best-selling truck, there are plenty of other options in Ford’s lineup.

Some Maverick buyers from last year were rolled over to 2023, which means there are many promised trucks in production. While semiconductor chip shortages have somewhat slowed down, there is hope that production can ramp up soon. A new Ranger is hitting other markets in 2023, but a new version could appear in the U.S. later. Whatever the automaker is doing behind the scenes is undoubtedly translating into sales.

As 2023 continues, Ford has plenty of options to keep buyers occupied and interested. Ford trucks, including the E-Series, Transit, Transit Connect, and Heavy-Duty trucks, had 853,894 units sold by the end of November.

Some must-have products in the lineup that are not trucks include the Ford Transit van, the Ford Bronco SUV, and even the Lincoln Corsair SUV. Not to mention the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E, the traditional gasoline Mustang, and all of the SUVs, like the Expedition, Edge, and Explorer, remain big sellers.

It makes sense that Ford has America’s best-selling truck in the F-Series, but it doesn’t end there. While some brands have been paring down lineups, Ford continues adding vehicles people want to buy.
