When Ford announced the return of the Bronco, rumors of a Raptor version started nearly immediately. And now, the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is here. This SUV comes with over 400 horsepower and serious off-road chops. Better yet, it boasts things like flared fenders and other equipment to make it look truly aggressive. But, with a starting cost of nearly $70,000, all of this comes at a cost. So, will this new Bronco variant be worth it?
What is the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor?
The Bronco Raptor is a high-performance version of Ford’s off-road SUV. It comes equipped with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine. This engine should produce north of 400 hp and provide ample torque. Both of which will help this SUV dominate in off-road environments.
It’s clear Ford is aiming its sights at the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 with this build. And frankly, that’s a good thing. SUVs are extremely popular, and the more high-powered variants the better. Especially when they look as sharp as the 2022 Bronco.
Can you buy a Ford Bronco Raptor?
Orders for the Ford Bronco Raptor are already open. But, most models were quickly purchased by those who already had existing Bronco orders placed. Because of that, you can no longer order this performance SUV, and in the current market, that is par for the course.
Ford has stated that some dealerships might receive allocations of the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor. But if you want to buy this vehicle, it might be best to wait for the 2023 model. Just be sure that you act quickly once those order banks open up.
What does the Raptor trim change on the 2022 Bronco?
The Raptor trim changes quite a bit about the Ford Bronco. According to Car and Driver, every Bronco Raptor comes with BFGoorich K02 all-terrain tires. These tires are extremely beefy, and unlike the F-150 Raptor, they come standard. Additionally, the Bronco Raptor is clearly wider than the standard Bronco. It is so wide that it is required to have amber marker lights to omeet Department of Transportation regulations.
The suspension has also been heavily modified. This helps the Bronco to handle if more extreme off-road situations. This SUV utilizes a Dana 44 front and Dana 50 rear axle with a 235-mm ring gear.
How expensive is the Ford Bronco Raptor?
With all of the upgrades Ford has made to this Bronco, the price is not cheap. The MSRP of the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is $68,500. But, when you look at the competition, the Bronco is actually cheaper. For instance, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 has a starting price of over $75,000. And if you want an F-150 Raptor with the 37-inch tires, you will also be paying more.
It is worth noting that unless you get lucky or manage to find a slightly used version, you can no longer buy the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor. With over 400 hp, it is not surprising that the Bronco Raptor has already sold out. Especially with the interest the standard Bronco has already garnered.
