Florida Woman Caught Going 107 MPH Because She Wanted to Get Little Caesars Before It Closed: Police
A 21-year-old Florida woman who just wanted a slice was pulled over by police last week after being clocked going 107 miles per hour. When asked by the officer why she was driving so fast, she allegedly replied that she wanted to get to Little Caesars before it closed.
Incredibly, the deputy from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office who pulled her over did not think that was a valid excuse. Instead, the officer arrested her. She now faces a charge of dangerous, excessive speeding without incident, according to WFLA News.
The Pinellas County deputy reported that he tracked 21-year-old Yazmin Erazo going 107 mph in her Kia vehicle at around 11:52 p.m. as she cruised northbound on U.S. Highway 19 in Palm Harbor north of St. Petersburg. That particular stretch of road has a posted speed limit of 55 miles per hour. So, she was only exceeding the legally allowed speed by a mere 52 miles per hour. Not too much when considering her alleged need for pizza.
The Little Caesars-craving Kia driver was taken by the deputy to the Pinellas County Jail and charged with the misdemeanor. She was later released on bond.
People will do all sorts of unusual things for a slice of pizza
A few years back, police used the power of pizza to get a man in Penscala, Florida, to end a four-hour standoff. In that case, a man had barricaded himself in a room after allegedly threatening his family.
When police arrived at a home, the man claimed he had a gun, so they brought in a SWAT team. For four hours, they tried to coax him out of the home without incident.
Eventually, crisis negotiators managed to persuade him to come out of the house with the promise of pizza. No mention was made of the brand of pizza he was offered. Fox 26 News did report, however, that “it wasn’t clear if he actually received a slice.”
