Finally, the wait is over! We can feast our eyes on the new Chevrolet Colorado. While this mid-size truck has a brand new look and restyled interior, that’s not the only thing that makes it hot. The 2023 Chevy Colorado also packs a more powerful punch.

How much power does the 2023 Chevy Colorado have?

The 2023 Chevy Colorado features one new engine with three different power outputs. The standard option is the 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four engine with 237 hp and 259 lb-ft of torque.

With the outgoing model, the standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine cranks out 200 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque. So standard power has increased by about 37 hp and 68 lb-ft of torque.

If you upgrade to the 2.7-liter Turbo Plus engine, then you get 310 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. The 2022 Colorado has an optional 3.6-liter V6 engine with 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque, so that’s an additional two horses and 115 lb-ft of torque.

The third new option is the 2.7-liter High Output variant with 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with the Colorado ZR2 trim.

While we’re excited about more power, unfortunately, we have to say goodbye. The 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque has been dropped.

Also, despite having extra power, the Colorado can still only tow up to 7,700 lbs, which is excellent for a mid-size truck.

2023 Colorado: What’s new?

The 2023 Chevy Colorado should have an improved ride to go with its extra power. According to Cars.com, the Colorado’s wheelbase grew by 3.1 inches. It’s 2.3-inches wider too. This should make the ride more stable and smoother.

However, the new Colorado has fewer options. It’s now only available with a four-door crew cab and a 62-inch box. The five-foot-two-inch box was the most popular option from the previous generation, so it should satisfy most drivers.

Thanks to the shorter front overhang, the Colorado has better approach angles. The 2023 Colorado has an approach angle of 38.3 degrees, but the Gladiator still beats it with a 43.6-degree approach angle.

There are more off-roading options too. Drivers can select the Trail Boss, ZR2, or Desert Boss trims based on their needs.

Does the 2023 Colorado have better features?

Yes, the 2023 Chevy Colorado is loaded with new and improved features. For example, the tailgate storage system features a lockable cubby that’s 45 inches wide and four inches deep. It can be used to store tools or as a cooler.

Each Colorado comes standard with an 11.3-inch infotainment screen with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Plus, there is a new digital gauge cluster behind the steering wheel and a massive sunroof.

The interior has a much better layout with a modern feel and attractive red accent stitching. It looks like hard plastics have been replaced by leather upholstery and other high-quality materials.

There are new cameras for off-roading views, standard towing equipment, new off-roading modes, and more. We’re still learning about the new Chevy Colorado, and we like what we’ve learned so far.
