Unfortunately, you can’t be first in line to get behind the wheel of the supercar-slaying C8 Corvette Z06 anymore. Chevrolet already sold the first 2023 Corvette Z06 Coupe and Convertible at auction for millions earlier this year. However, although the first of anything is special enough, both of those Z06s were basically regular production models. The next C8 Z06 Chevy is bringing to auction, though, has something you won’t see on any other Corvette.

Now’s your chance to win a 2023 Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 with a 1-of-1 paint job and matching NFT

Because it’s a sports car, Chevrolet sells the C8 Corvette in a wide array of vivid colors. Yes, you can get it in white, gray, and black, but there’s also Torch Red, Accelerate Yellow, and Amplify Orange. There’s even a shade of blue named after Road America’s home. But there’s one paint color you won’t find on any production C8 Corvette Z06: green.

Except, that is, on the Minted Green one headed for the upcoming Own the Color auction. Chevrolet partnered with digital artist xsullo to create a 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 with the one-off green paint job. It’s technically based on an NFT xsullo created, which is also part of the auction. Hence why the auction’s called ‘Own the Color’ and the color is called ‘Minted Green,’ as in minting NFTs.

That’s not the only reference this custom C8 Corvette Z06 makes to Web culture, though. Like every other Corvette option, this paint color has an option code: RFN, as in ‘radio frequency network.’ In addition, this car’s VIN is inspired by binary code.

If you ask me, though, the coolest part of this car is that it’s a C8 Corvette Z06 with all the Z07 Performance Package’s goodies. That means Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon-fiber wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R ZP tires, carbon-fiber aero elements, and re-tuned magnetorheological shocks with a unique suspension setup. And of course, it has the bonkers LT6 flat-plane-crank V8.

All the auction proceeds are going to charity

Technically, you can’t win this unique 2023 Z06 directly. Instead, Chevrolet is auctioning off the NFT via SuperRare, which is essentially the Bonhams of crypto art, MotorTrend says. If you win the NFT, you win the physical car, too. And because crypto art is so tied to cryptocurrency, SuperRare is only accepting bids in Ethereum.

While the timing of a cryptocurrency-based auction could be better, it is for a good cause. All proceeds go to DonorsChoose, an organization that supports teachers and sends them to communities in need. Chevrolet did something similar with its previous C8 Z06 auctions.

If you want to win a unique green C8 Z06 and help some teachers, the auction runs June 20-24, 2022. Also, the NFT will be on display at New York City’s Crypt Gallery.

When can you order your own C8 Corvette Z06?

Although Chevrolet doesn’t plan on offering any green shades on the 2023 C8 Corvette Z06, you could always get in touch with a paint shop. BMW’s Isle of Man Green is particularly fetching. But of course, you need your own Z06 to make that happen.

Fortunately, it shouldn’t be long until you can walk into a Chevrolet dealership and get one. Chevy says Z06 production should start in summer 2022. And while the exact pricing is still under wraps, rumors suggest the 2023 Z06 will cost less than $90,000 to start.

So, don’t let this Minted Green Z06 leave you too green with envy.
