The Kia EV9 is on the way, and it’s quickly becoming one of the most anticipated electric vehicle releases in recent history. The EV9 is the brand’s first fully-electric midsize three-row SUV model. It will be Kia’s most expensive electric vehicle to date. The EV9 has the potential to make a huge splash in the next few years. Its European pricing can give consumers an idea of how much it will cost in the United States.

According to Kia’s Belgium official website, the 2024 Kia EV9 starts at 61,975 Euros. This price is specific to Belgium (at the moment of publishing), but it directly converts to $67,644 (USD). A starting price over $67K isn’t outside the realm of possibility for the EV9 due to its size and unique powertrain system. The European base model also includes Kia’s larger battery option, which will be significantly more expensive than the brand’s smaller battery option due to its driving range.

So, it’s still unclear how much the Kia EV9 will cost when it becomes available in America, but Belgium’s price unveiling is a good starting point for an estimate. The most affordable version of the midsize three-row fully-electric SUV will likely start close to $60,000. Whether that’s a reasonable price for the new EV or not is an entirely different conversation.

The Kia EV9 has already made its rounds at several international auto shows and garnered plenty of attention. Consumers and critics have a sense of the EV’s pricing, and interest remains strong. Perhaps the EV9 continues to get attention because it’s so novel. The midsize model could be the first of many for the industry (depending on its success).

South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Company easily makes some of the most exciting new electric vehicles on the market. Just to list a few, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and Genesis GV60 have all made huge impacts on their respective vehicle segments. Hyundai’s Ioniq 6 won the 2023 World Car of the Year award. Hyundai Motor Company and its portfolio of brands clearly understand what consumers want from EVs.

The EV9 is getting some hype for several reasons. It has the DNA of its predecessor, the popular Kia Telluride. It also has the genetics of the Kia EV6, which is a hit among critics and experts. Expectations for the Kia EV9 are high because it comes from a very popular family in the EV space.
