When word came out that Chevy was finally delivering on its promise to produce a mid-engine Corvette, the world went wild. Anticipation was high, and some people were willing to pay astronomical prices for one. Tragically, the 2020 Chevy C8 might not be quite as perfect as we all thought it would be. Fans have taken to Reddit to voice their complaints regarding the poor stitching, as well as other complaints.

The 2020 Corvette has great potential

The hype surrounding the 2020 Chevy C8 was unreal. The mid-engine was going to be a game changer, especially for tall people who had to cram themselves in. The reviews were stellar and there seemed to be a lot of great promise, and for the most part, the C8 has lived up to that.

It’s the most powerful Corvette ever, thanks to its 6.2 liter V8 engine that gets 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Add the Z51 Performance Package, and the C8 can go from 0 to 60 in less than three seconds.

The interior also got a much-needed upgrade. The wheel is now square, which surprisingly makes for more knee room. There is also an improved touch screen and Bluetooth among many other new features.

The 2020 Chevy Corvette has also earned some illustrious awards, the latest of which is the ALG Redesign of the Year award. It truly is an amazing vehicle, but it definitely has some issues.

The C8 problems seem endless

The 2020 Chevy Corvette may look amazing, but there is a long list of issues that seem to be growing. Some are minor, while some are serious problems that can cause a wreck.

One of the biggest problems revolves around the hood. There have been reports of the hoods flying open as drivers blaze down the highway. This can be dangerous at low speeds, much less high speeds, and no one knows exactly why it’s happening yet. Chevy has placed the blame on owners, but it feels more like a lack of Chevy accepting the blame.

In a much more ominous turn of events, some owners are experiencing problems that revolve around the Corvette operating on its own. Windows that roll up and down on their own as well as a horn that blows when it isn’t touched brings to mind Stephen King’s Christine. These aren’t the only problems plaguing the 2020 Chevy C8 either.

Reddit users are very vocal

Corvette C8 stitch job | Carwow

With the advent of the internet, everyday people now have a voice, and they’re using it, especially on sites like Reddit. That’s where many people went to discuss the Carwow review about the 2020 Chevy Corvette, and the atrocious stitch job on the dash.

If you pause the video at 4:11, you’ll see that the stitching doesn’t match up. It’s not even something you have to look at closely to catch. It’s obvious from a distance, which is a major issue given the current prices of the Corvette.

One Reddit user stated, “It looks like someone sneezed during the stitching process and just kept going.”

Another wrote, “I was thinking ‘it can’t be that bad’ but it is that bad.”

The current prices in the UK are rumored to be anywhere from £81,700 to £130k according to many Reddit users. That’s about $106,644 to $169,683 in US dollars. That’s a far cry from the original estimated price of $60,000

Hopefully Chevy will be able to work these problems out and deliver on the promise of a great Corvette that the world has been looking forward to for years now.
