The Chevrolet Silverado EV RST is the final Silverado EV trim. The RST boasts impressive performance specs but it’s also incredibly expensive. The Rivian R1T Launch Edition is considered pricey by many, but Chevy’s final trim electric pickup truck makes the R1T seem like a steal.

The Chevy Silverado EV will be the first electric pickup truck produced by American automaker Chevrolet. GM is investing billions of dollars into the development and production of new electric vehicle nameplates across its portfolio of brands over the next few years.

Several major automakers are aiming to electrify at least 40% of their total lineups by the year 2030. Electric vehicles are gradually becoming more ubiquitous. Teslas were once rare. Today they are a common sight on American roads and highways.

The Chevy Silverado EV is an electric pickup truck that will rival the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, and Ram 1500 EV. The gas-powered Silverado may not have been a huge contender in its segment, but the Silverado EV is a fresh start for Chevrolet. The new pickup has as good of a chance at dominating the electric SUV vehicle segment as any truck.

The Silverado EV comes in several different trim levels ranging from affordable to… not so affordable. The Silverado EV RST starts at a whopping $105,000. Ouch. Oddly enough, the Rivian R1T Launch Edition is much less expensive yet its performance specs blow the Silverado EV RST out of the water.

The 2022 Rivian R1T Launch Edition electric pickup truck is currently the quickest truck on the market. The pickup uses a quad motor electric powertrain system to produce a mighty 835 horsepower and 908 lb-ft of torque. That’s a whole of ponies.

The R1T Launch Edition can go from 0-60 miles per hour in about 3.2 seconds. Launching the electric truck feels like blasting off in a spaceship. Rivian’s electric truck isn’t just quick. It’s also adventure-ready.

The electric pickup uses an adjustable air suspension to achieve an impressive 14.5 inches of ground clearance. The R1T Launch Edition is a natural off-road vehicle.

The Silverado EV RST makes 664 horsepower and 780 lb-ft of torque. According to Inverse, it can go from 0-60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds. The EV RST is impressive, but it still can’t hold a candle to the R1T Launch Edition.

The 2022 Rivian R1T Launch Edition starts at $85,000. That’s $20,000 cheaper than the slower Silverado EV RST. If you’re shelling out the big bucks for an electric pickup truck, the Rivian R1T seems to be the obvious choice over the Silverado EV RST. Both electric trucks provide over 300 miles of driving range. In this case, the more affordable choice happens to be the better choice.
